Looking at possibly upgrading from a 4255 to a 7930. What's the good and bads of a 7930?

Kinda hate to see the 4255 leave, has been a really good tractor. But really need more hydraulic flow and more power would be nice plus MFWD would just be a added bonus on top of it all.

So give me your thoughts on the 7930's, the good, bad, and ugly.

7930 is a 2007 with IVT, 4 remotes, 42.5 gpm hydraulic pump, Greenstar ready, and has 4058 hours on it.

Thanks,

Make sure the valves have been adjusted and replace the u-joints between the engine and transmission.

We have a 7930 with IVT and love it. I think you will too!

Good: they're good solid tractors. Bad: they quit making them.

We have one on our farm. 2008 model. 1300hrs on it now. Auto quad transmission. One thing I wish it had was the electronic controlled SCVs, just has the manual levers. Pull a 8 row Progressive strip till and a 12-row Deere planter. Both on Rtk autotrack. Had a few pretty minor repairs done to engine fan and exhaust manifold/turbo. Nothing major.

Sometimes I think it could turn a little tighter.

Been a good solid tractor. Very happy with it.

We have a 7920 and a 7930 both tls and ivt the 7920 will run circles around 7930 it runs hot if u pull it at all. A 24' Parma mulcher is all it wants on a good day have put 2 fuels pumps on it and has the blue air filters u can't blow out and it throws a air restriction code a lot even after like 20 hours on a new filter

Have an '08 with 2500 hours. Bought it 2 years ago. IVT, TLS loaded with every option you could get. Love it so far. Had to replaced the viscous drive for the fan and need to replace the thermostats. Think they're sticking as it still wants to do is overheat. Think the EH valve is going bad for the autotrac but need to diagnose that a little further. The PIP for the EH portion of the valve has expired and I was 2 tractors out on serial number. I don't dog it. Pulls the 8/16 in the spring, grain cart in the fall, 15 foot drill, and will be used to spread fertilizer this spring. I question how long the 6.8 will last compared to the 8.1 in the 20 series. Just seems like a lot of power from a smaller engine but time will tell. We still have the 4455 but it sure is nice to ride all day in the 7930.

We have a 7930 since new , has 3600 hrs on  it now , no major problems , just the annoying electrically gremlins. It wont last as long as the trusted 7810 with the 8.1 , but still a nice tractor.

If you're going be using it for the same jobs as the 4255 you would most likely be more than happy with it. However, if it were up to me I would go with an 8130 or 8230. The 6.8 is a dog compared to the 9.0. Also if this tractor doesn't have TLS it's going to ride pretty rough compared to the longer wheelbased 8X30's.

So do most of you with the IVT's have the left hand reverser? Do you like it compared to not having it in a tractor?

Salesman said he thought most of 7X30's with IVT had a left hand reverser, but I located one that didn't. Which one would you rather have, with or without the left hand reverser?

Thanks,
GAFarmer55

I prefer the LH reverser. Just seems more natural to me. I also have a 746 loader for the tractor and I definitely prefer the LH for loader work. Can use both hands instead of one.

Thanks for your input on the LH reverser. We have a 5095M with a loader and it has the LH Reverser, and I don't mind it on that tractor. Just not sure how much I would like it on a bigger tractor. Guess I am used to the old QuadRange that is in the 4255.
