| What are the opinions of a sunflower 6333? Will it go through corn stalks with no prior tillage? What setup on the tool do you like best? How many horsepower per foot does it take to pull one? I am looking into purchasing one. |

NW Washington | I had to look up what a Sunflower 6333 looked like. http://sunflowermfg.com/products/index.php?id=49&sID=59&pID=103 |

Alliance, NE | I think the options are. Rolling packers behind front disk gang. On the shanks you can either go with springs or danish tines style. On rear you can either do spike harrow or spring style harrow and then packers again on rear. I bet you don't even have to get harrow or packers on the rear.
As far as horse power we have a 29 or 30 foot machine and sometimes our 8430 stuggles. Especially if you are going deep with it.
I have had stalks drag and pile when in corn stalks. I think to avoid this problem you will have to pull it deep. We used to have a Krause lands tar and I think I kinda miss it over the 6333. We mainly use ours ahead of planter to smooth ground. We pull a sunflower rolling packer behind it. |

SeMN | No, we know..... |

central IN | No way you will be able to pull it through cornstalks without any previous tillage, we learned from experience. If you make a fall tillage pass on the stalks such should be ok... Depends on your fall tillage set up. |

NE Iowa | We have 33 footer and drag it around with an 8770 deere 4wd and get along great. Wouldn't want anythingess than 250pto horse. Options are a 6 bar spoke tooth harrow or a 3 bar coil tune with rolling basket or 3 bar spike tooth with rolling basket. We have ran ours as a single pass machine in standing cornstalks in the spring and have yet to plug it. Sink the discs in and away you go. Have the 3 bar spoke and rolling basket and the basket mointake could be built a little heavier as we have all contours and there is a lot more side thrust on them than the straight back and forth guys. Like the rig other than that |

| We have ran ours for about 10 years now. It has the baskets behind the disk blades which I think are good to keep the dirt from moving too far and creating disk humps. And in the back it has 3 bar spike drag and a single basket. We also pull a basket behind that. We use as a one pass tool and have ran many acres of standing corn stalks with no problem. The only thing I do not like about it is the transport width. I would for sure buy another one this one goes over 3-4,000 ac per year. Be sure to put shank protectors on it we usually wear out 2 sets of shovels each season. Never have had to weld the frame. Have had to weld some bushing on some high wear points on the basket mounts. Highly recommend the tool. It's the oldest part of our planting operation and still planning on many years of service. As for hp ours is 34' and pull it with a 9460r but started pulling it with a 9400 and did fine.

Northwest IL | I have a 28' and pull it with a 8430. Makes an excellent seed bed in lots of conditions. It will go through standing stalks, but the job it does depends a lot on previous crop trash/yield. Lighter yielding corn residue goes through and looks a little nicer than high yielding corn residue. Mine has the rolling basket behind the discs and a 6 bar high residue harrow on the back. |

North Central Iowa | Same thing here. 28ft behind a 8420. Trash will go through but in heavy corn stalks it wants to leave some piles. |
