NW KS | What size are the threads of the plug right under the svc of a john deere 4640? I need to add a zero pressure return for a hydraulic motor. I looked on jd parts but can't find an adapter or thread size. |

KS | I think there is a kit that you can get for a case drain. It takes a good parts guy to find it as it is an alternative use of the parts. Ie, it is not labeled "case drain". |

Dallas Center IA 515-720-2463 | It is a odd thread.
But a fitting for it can be purchased thru John Deere parts. And I have one on my 4630, and I think have the part number written on the wall of the machine shed.
However many Deere dealers will tell you not to return oil there. Suppose to not go thru the oil cooler or overload the charge pump. Maybe both.
But some Deere dealers will tell you to return there.
My Deere dealer shop foreman has told me not to return oil there. Van Wall Perry Iowa
However I saw the fitting at another Deere dealer, went in and asked about it. They told me it was just fine.
So I purchased the fitting from them. Deere dealer at Carroll Iowa.
Fitting on the side of the SCV is for return. It is SAE thread.
I return to the side of the SCV. |

| Return from a Hyd, motor should be hooked into the plug on the side of the SCV body.
The plug you are wanting to tap is for a case drain from a Hyd motor which should flow a small amount of oil when the motor is running correctly. |

Fruita CO | I think it was a 260 (maybe 720?) loader that had a bleed line from the loader valve that went into that plug. Should be shown in the loader parts book. |

NW KS | This is for the zero pressure return not the motor return. I have a 3 line motor and have already found the parts for the return line.

South Central Kansas | Take the plug out and drill it and tap it with a 3/8 pipe tap. Reinstall it with a quick coupler and a nipple. I have done several with no problems. |

Jefferson Co. Florida | I installed a zero pressure for a 1720 planter this year and I believe the part numbers where listed in the planter manual for the various tractor models. You can search the manuals on Deere.com.

Fruita CO | I searched the loader parts books last night & couldn't find it-I swore I installed some loaders that used it, but??? Found that R63922, & that's not it...
I have drilled & tapped a couple of them like you say. |

| Sorry, I misunderstood the question. |

| I believe the fitting you are looking for is part # A15532. If I am reading your post correctly. This would be the large plug you take out almost immediately below the rockshaft housing and goes into the rear end transmission / differential case. The seal washer part # is H851R. It should have a 1/2 male pipe that sticks out at you when installed. The threads that go into the case are 1.125" and are of the UNF type which is Unified Inch Fine Screw Threads. Correct me if I am wrong. Hope this helps.

Fruita CO | Yep, that's the one...I never thought of the weight-transfer hitch using it, I looked in every loader/plow/planter book I could think of... |

NW KS | That sounds right. Thanks |
