North Central Iowa | What are you guys using for conventional corn acres what works and what doesn't?
We had one field conventional last year and we used 15oz/ac of Verdict and we did not have to spray post. Our post was going to be impact and Atrazine. We are growing more conventional this year and wondering what works for you guys. Our chem dealer gave us about four different ideas and the one I mentioned above come in at second highest cost/ac. TIA, Matt

| Degree xtra spike with some surestart or balance flexx And if you have the man power. Buy a sprayer and pay it off in one year with the savings of buying wholesale | |||

n.c.iowa | what we are going with11/2 pints volley atz nxt, pre, followed by laudis or impact post.

MN | I used 4 oz of Laudis as a 1 pass program on Knee high corn. Field was clean at harvest and yielded well. I wouldn't recommend this to other growers, as I had planned a pre for this field, but the weather conditions didn't allow it to happen. I really liked how laudis worked even on some mid sized waterhemp.

NE Iowa | 5 oz. Balance Flex ($3.15 /oz.) - $15.75 per acre 1.5 pint Generic Dual ($30/gallon) - $5.63 per acre 1 quart Atrazine ($11.50/gallon) - $2.87 per acre $24.25 per acre total. I spray off the back of the planter and am no-till.

n.c.iowa | aztech, i used the naked laudis program for several years on a couple farms, but it seemed the grass got away from me. just gotta be careful with laudis around soybeans, if they get a sniff of that stuff, it's game over.

North Central Iowa | We do run our own sprayer just looking for what guys have had good luck with in the past. Our fields are pretty clean except some high pressure areas that drown out in the last few years.

Yeah, I've heard Callisto is better with grass control. I agree on the beans, had an oops on flushing the boom before switching to beans and fried a corner of one field.

Amherst WI | You've been lied to if you were told Callisto is good on grass. Laudis or impact are much better, spike it with 1/2# of Atz and its better yet.

n.c.iowa | hinfarm is right aztech, maybe you got them mixed up but callisto doesn't do much if anything for grass. I would probably use balance flex, but am a little prejudiced against it because I was around when balance came out without the safener, bad things happened. with the safener it's allgood now but, still have those memories.

| I assumed when you said chem dealer and a list, that they were spraying for you I assumed wrong, sorry that said if you have your own sprayer its time to start shopping, can get a one pass program for under $30/acre, and if you are brave and wanna take a chance under $20 | |||

Southern Illinois | Full rate of Anthem ATZ spiked with max rate of extra atrazine and roundup if necessary. One pass on 350 acres, no escapes except late season cockleburs in small flood area.
| |||
| AFM |
| ||
Southern IN | Impact is effective.

| RubyFarm |
| ||
Central Iowa | I am guessing that he means Capreno, which is the same as Laudis with more active grass killer.

WC Indiana | This is my no-til $35 conventional corn program. You can tell I am very paranoid about grass control Every product I use will do something on grass except the 2-4,d. Pre-Corn gal 0.25 Glpyhosate $14.50 $3.63 pint 1 2/4-D $33 $4.12 lb 1 Simazine DF $3.60 $3.60 pt 1.3 Parallel (Dual) $30.00 $4.88 Post pt 0.65 Parallel $30.00 $2.44 oz 0.75 Impact or Armezon $12.50 $9.38 lb 0.5 Atrazine 4L $2.65 $1.33 oz 2 Status $3.10 $6.20 Total $35.56 I don't always use the Status but it's a totally different mode of action and good if anything is out there.

Corvus is excellent but not cheap.

La Grange, MO | Shop around for Corvus I don't know why but I can always get it cheaper away from my area. Got it from titan pro last year. Ran 3.5 oz spiked with volley atz worked good no post.

North Liberty and South Bend, Indiana | Corvus, if it fails call Bayer and they should pay for most of the cost to clean up with Laudis... At least they did for us this year. Corvus never failed us until this cold wet rainy horrible year and only on the earliest Sprayed fields.

La Grange, MO | Yea they backed my program. I resprayed 80 acres they sent me laudis

johnny skeptical - 12/22/2014 17:37 what we are going with11/2 pints volley atz nxt, pre, followed by laudis or impact post. [/QUOTEJust curious on your strategy, isn't full rate of Volley 2 qts, and just under $15 per acre? 1.5 pints is .375 of full rate and only $5.62 per acre. Is your thinking just to suppress 'em for a couple weeks, and let the laudis/impact do the heavy lifting? The savings between your rate and full rate will cover the cost of the post app. I prepaid for a full rate, and was told to plan for a post also, which would be a solid $10 per acre higher cost than your program, plus app. cost.
