central Ia. | On our 612 there is a dipstick attached to the plug located in between the gathering chains. We use an allen socket on an impact to remove.

North central Iowa | The plugs on the chopper drive gear box are very hard to get out. A good coat of never seize helps. Steel plugs in a aluminum case makes for skinned knuckles. |

| Warm header and check all gear cases with it fully raised. According to manual. Just did this last week. |

ND | We replaced all the allen plugs with square drive plugs when we went through ours the last time. Saves time and hassle since about half of them had to get taken out with an extractor |

NE SD | Metric is the one you want. Go buy an impact set and use an impact wrench to remove them. Reinstall them with a small ratchet...and not very tight. |
