Dad is thinking about looking at an MTX110 tomorrow. I talked to a friend and he said they had transmission and clutch problems. He is more of a Deere guy, so I thought I would ask here. What problems are they prone to having? The one we are looking at has about 5000 hours. I will take opinions from the entire MTX series.

We have an MTX120. It is a decent tractor. No problems other than typical maintenance. Bought new and has 46xx hours on it. I am not a fan of the controls on it, but it gets the job done.

We have a MTX135 with 4500hrs.  Owned since new, no real troubles but I wish it was a CaseIH.  Iveco engine has been trouble free, "emissionized" injector pump has been problematic.  Replaced at around 3000hrs.  Powershift switch and trans speed sensor have been replaced twice each.  Can't really complain, not our favorite tractor but it has always got the job done.  Decent cheap tractors, I would buy another one if the the price was right.

We have a CaseIH P170 unit with Iveco motor. Have had the bosch injector pump replaced 3 times. Repair company that works on it for us also sells McCormick. The two mechanics hate Ivecos. Replace injectors at 2000hrs on almost all they have sold. They said you can't have any fuel problems at all (i.e. pinhole air leak in line, particles larger than 5 microns, etc.). If any fuel problems IP implodes and sends plastic parts down to injectors and you have to change them. IMHO do not get one.

MTX 135 Had to be a lemon then. It was the worst tractor going. Nothing and I do mean nothing worked on that tractor for more than two months. The dealer put more hours on the tractor than we did fixing and testing it.

Had way better luck with the Case MX series.

I have a mtx 150 with about 4,000 hours. I bought it new in '04. had a problem with the shifter linkage under warranty. No problem after that. I would buy another one.

Have had two mtx120s. Both have been relatively trouble free here under normal use as rake, wrapper, and loader tractors.
