Ontario Canada | Has anyone decided that a Jeep is a more bang for buck buy over a UTV?? Damn near vomited when I saw the new RZR prices. Or have owned both, which do you prefer more? I would buy a Wrangler in a heartbeat. At those prices buy a wrangler!!! At least then you can drive it down the highway as a Daily Driver. We bought a new WILLYS Wheeler edition so much fun been out on the trails lots with it in the last few months. Can't believe you can take an SUV like this off the lot no Mods and it goes through this much. If you by a base model spend the money to put good mudding tires and you are set. Our Willys came factory with mudders on it. my 2 cents at least

The Delta | You can always buy stock and add your own mods for less. I'd go with the utv.

Lee Co | Son traded a 900 for a new 1000 this spring. after 90 miles he noticed a vibration. took it back to the dealer. they found 3 of 4 axels were bent. and after about 2 weeks was told they wouldn't stand it because of abuse. after finding out it had never been off the farm, on trails or any other abusive conditions they reluctantly fixed it in another 2 weeks. When he picked it up he was told they wouldn't stand any other issues. He was glad he didn't get any extended waranntee as that is now a Polaris in house policy so they won't fix anything , just take your money. while it was down he did some research and found out the factory axels are known to be undersized and weak. new ones that are stronger cost over $500.00 each. So, they know their is a problem but like a lot of manufactures are trying to get off easy and make the customer foot the bill for their mistakes. this will be the last Polaris on our farm. jeep looks better and better!

Ontario Canada | The axles are also short...Any sort of lift and they pull apart. When my 400HO is done, will trade for a Can AM.

For working around the farm I would never get rid of my 800 6x6. Much easier to get in and out of, MUCH lighter than a Jeep and I like the better visibility. I Bought it used... A tiler owned it before me. Had I think 1200 miles. Now a year later it has about a thousand more and still is running great. It is used daily. From spraying to tiling to general farm chores. Have had he bed heaping full with rocks more than once. I have used it to pull stuck semis and the 40 ft Mac Don. If I am within a mile or so of the farm, I will jump in it long before a truck. Granted the semi was just stuck in marbles and the Mac Don took some persuasion to get going. It outweighed the Ranger by a lot. I did have one front axle seperate at the outer cv end, but I put the tire in a concrete trough and the wheel turned almost 90 degrees left. When I get around to putting the shaft in,(been out of it for 2 months now) I will add steering stops to keep it from happening again. A RZR I would never spend the coin on.

Texas | I have a 2012 jeep wrangler sport(base model) and a Honda Pioneer UTV. The jeep has become my daily driver unless I'm going a very long distance and then I take the pickup. I like driving the jeep around the farm because of its great maneuverability and I like having AC in summer and heat in the winter. I also like having satellite radio.(the only option I have on the jeep)except for a winch I put on myself. That being said there are some situations where I have to use the UTV...such as going out in a muddy cornfield to work on a center pivot. The jeep is just to heavy to make it in really muddy conditions. Unless you need the floatation of the UTV, you get a lot more for your money in a jeep.

SE MN | Those prices are insane! I do think a UTV is better at most jobs on our farm. We had an old Nissan pickup we used for a while, and now a UTV; we like using the UTV better for stuff around the farm. UTV is lighter, smaller, more nimble and easier to navigate rough terrain around the pasture and crossing the creek while checking fences. The UTV is much better at herding/chasing cows and calfs, or just checking on them. We put a sprayer in the back for spraying fence lines, not that you could not do that with a Jeep but UTV again would be easier to navigate difficult areas, and hop in and out off. Now at those price listed I do not think I could justify a UTV. So it will depend on what you are going to do with it.

West Union, Illinois | Except for very limited situations those are not work rigs. From a strictly financial standpoint I agree entirely. But a UTV and a Jeep are different tools for different uses. Had both, still have the Mule. It goes places I wouldn't or couldn't take the Jeep. Same can be said for the Jeep, but I have a couple trucks for that. It's like a lot of other things, it really depends on your use. (Image1788 (Small).jpg) (IMG10070_Small.jpg) (IMG11244 (Small).jpg) Attachments ---------------- ![]() ![]() ![]()

Central Missouri | Back in '05 we purchased a 1995 Geo tracker for calving heifers, by 2007 we parked both 4 wheelers (700 kingquad and 600 grizzly) and picked up a second tracker. Compared to the quads trackers are great; heat, A/C, windshield wipers, roof, significantly cheaper maintenance, reduced depreciation, room for hauling a calf, and cattle aren't spooked by them. Trackers are not as agile, and won't handle the worst of the mud, but they do 98% of the jobs. I also have a stock Jeep wrangler YJ, it doesn't hold a candle to the Geo for ride, ease of entry and exit, and performance. I love my YJ, but isn't a farm vehicle. I also have a stock Jeep Comanche; power, comfort, and cargo space are better than a Geo, but fuel economy and agility suffer. Also have a modified Jeep Cherokee: lifted, locked front and rear, flat belly, 34" LTBs, bumpers, ect.... It is a blast for slow speed trails/ rock crawling/ checking cattle when the only other option is a fwa tractor. Road manners are questionable, forget about quick turns in 4wd, more dangerous than a tractor on ice, loves gas and I flopped it over on its roof a few years back. It will go places a utv can't fathom, so long as it is 70" wide or better dirt bank: http://youtu.be/2YHqA1OI5V4 Unrolling my xj: http://youtu.be/0J9XiaDpxvk (note the bucket of electric post insulators dumping out the window) A TJ or JK would be superior to my fleet, for a happy medium of on and off road, but the $2k Geo is dang hard to top Tommy Edited by tommy_harrell 8/3/2014 01:28

The Delta | Gorilla axles for 2k will solve that issue, ive got nos on a commander at around 125 hp with 34" tires and they will hold in the pit.

Minnesota | I looked at utvs a few years ago, they were around 10,000, I personally thought that was crazy, Even If I won the lottery there's no way I'd pay 20-30000 for one of these units.

The Willys does not have lockers but has limited slip as factory. The Willys is not a stock sport it is on the Sport model but with the capabitlity of the Rubicon less lockers. Have to go to Rubicon but this will increase your budget big time. I would buy a stock one and add
