tennessee | I've lined up the marks on the pump and looked in the hole at the flywheel to try to find the "hole" for the line up tool(which I don't have) but I can't see any hole to line up with. I turned the engine all the way around again until the marks lined up again on the pump and still no line up hole. How do I know if the pump is in the right position. Been 15 years since I've done this..........thanks. |

West Cental Arkansas | I have always just lined up the 2 marks on the injection pump. Never had any problems doing it that way. Always took the key out of the tractor so there was no way the starter could be bumped and get it out of time. Good luck. |

Fresno, California | Pull the valve cover and make sure both valves on #1 are closed, timing hole should line up by rocking the crank a few deg. each way. When you do find the timing mark use a marker pen or paint so it will be easier to find next time. It helps if you marks the pump and timing cover with a punch to set the timing in the injector pump window before removing the pump. |
