| We have just passed 20hrs and our brand new tractor is down again. First the a/c wasn't working, now there's an engine fault. Getting worried. My ear plugs were barely enough to dull the fault buzzer. Going to have to keep some ear muffs for double protection I guess. Anyone else have bad luck with a new Magnum? We had neighbours but a 305 and constant problems so they dealt it in the first month on a 315 and haven't had any problems. |

Leeds, North Dakota | Snit happens on all colors, quality control???, hope its something simple, Scott. |

| Sounds just like my 340. Case didn't tighten the fittings on the a/c compressor. I lost all the Freon in the field one day. Next.. engine code for me was just water in the fuel. Drain the fuel trap below the hydraulic check stick. Code goes away. The next one your gonna have is a tranny code especially with cold oil. Just change all the hyd filters and it cures that one. All good now except for an annoying fan clutch.

Flora IL | Our new 290 got a short on the harness to starter and urine out the starter. Case did machine down had parts that next morning up and going in no time.
What's that saying if its got tires or t $! $ it will be trouble... |

SE Nebraska | I have had a few problems on my new 260 which is basically the same thing except for an engine tune. A sensor was bad on the transmission and one remote has stopped working. |

Central Illinois | have had zero problems with our new 290. actually our best one yet.that fan clutch is annoying though. had to change hydraulic filters in our new 400 after only 8 hours |
|

|
Southwest Iowa | I've got a 315 that the number 1 remote has quit on.
Mines not new though. Its got 923hrs on it, but the biggest problem is that the beacons have quit...................................... |

Soutwest Ks. | KNFarms: You certainly have an issue there! What will the neighbors think? |
|

|
| Yup. First was loose a/c fitting. Mechanic just left. Water in the fuel direct from the dealership. Going to send out new filter tonight so I can change it.
A little insight on the fan. The fan cycles off to save fuel. Idling it will run around 2.5L/hr i think, and if the fan is on 100% of the time it will be around 4L/hr. At least that's what my friend/service manager told me. He said they tested it because so many were complaining about the cycling. |

SE Nebraska | If it wasn't for the fan it would be a very quiet tractor! |

no welfare payments on this farm!!!!!!!! | i wish i was as lucky as you, i own a case skidsteer which has 240 hours in the shop and 90 on the machine from me, with 14 trips to shop and 3 feild trips. the machine is a nightmare and it goes crazy by itself turning in circles without touching controls about every ten hours. Its been in shop so much i forgot I owned it. my local dealer who sold it has stood by it 100% but they are pulling out their hair also and case doesnt understand I bought it to use not haul to the shop. |

Louise, TX | My 1900 hr 340 lost transmission during planting. It was engaging reverse clutch packs while planting. No codes ever showed only blocked hydraulic filters full of metal. Had to plant most everything with my 9,000 hr 270. Tractor was on shop for six weeks, but biggest problem is shop could not find anything that would cause clutches to partially engage. To top it off tractor went out of warranty a month before problem, I am waiting to see if Case is going to cover it. |

BC, Canada | Okay, I will bite...
'Brand new Magnum 290 broke again', so before we get our undies in a knot and jump on our smart phones to bash the 200k+ tractor we bought, lets start over.
Must have had an error code, symbol or something pop up on the corner post before you inserted the ear plugs, write the number down, look in the OPs manual and see what it means. OR call your dealership and ask service manager what it means instead of 'Getting worried'. There are so other ways to deal with this than jumping on AT looking for problems with the Magnums, where you located BTW? |

NW OH | Here is a link I found while planting that has the description of the codes you will find in the corner post. Nice to have as a reference. 260 Magnum ran flawless this spring. On our New Holland, most of the codes that didn't affect the way the tractor performed would go away either with a key cycle or mysteriously disappear overnight. Encouraging I know! Noticed that these are for tier 3 and tier 4a. Not sure if they changed codes for tier 4b or not

ND | The CIH are really Blue tractors is disguise, just different tin, they are red to appease your IHC roots. They are New Holland-if they were all Blue from the past more Red guys would have changed colors. |

| Service manger came out and couldn't access the codes using all his little button pushing tricks. Even dis the old fashind look in the manule with him. He didn't have his hand held hookup code reader foo hickey on him as he was gone home from work. The tech came out and spent an hour with it and didn't have the warning come up. But he figured he drained over a cup of water out of the filter or sumpin. I wasn't der.
Up here in the arctic in Canada you never know wats gunna freeze up next.
Looked like it ran great today while I used my pick to pull rocks outta the frozen tundra. |

Central Minnesota | OurSteiger 350 is on its 4th hydraulic filter and a new sending unit in 350 hours and it still beeps that the hydraulic filter is plugged. |

|
| Well, the 290 told us to STOP today. We must have hit 25 hrs. Tech is on his way out. No wonder new tractors are expensive, they have to alot. $ for repairs. |
|
| |
|
| Just more water in the filter. |
|
| |
|
| I wonder how many wasted hours each farmer, service manager, and field tech has spent on looking up the "STOP" code only to realize it was water. You'd think it'd be easier just to put that on the screen in the cab. Software outsourcing at its finest. |
|

|
| Day #3 now I think? Hydraulic filter error. I didn't tell my fatherinlaw yet. I'll wait and see if it comes up again later. Seemed fine after restarting the tractor. Might have to buy our own code reader if this keeps up. |
|

|
| Well it's our last field , let's put the 290 on the finishing cultivator so they can set up the gps. 2hrs later , well there must be something wrong in one of the sensors or a gyro , not to mention the gyro thingy was installed backwards.
"Well , we 'll send out a tech on moday when you're done with it. "
It never ends. |
