The first thing is for you study what soybean varieties have done well in your area. Yield results of all kinds will be important here. Both company and independent extension yield data. Next step is for you to decide what varieties you want to grow this year. It seems you have the order backwards. It is up to you to know what varieties you want to grow, don't be sold. And don't do all your business with just one seller, be open to several choices.

peidmont nc | Here in NC. We planted asgrow. USG. Dynagrow. And pioneer last year. Asgrow and dynagrow did over 60 BPA. We are planting asgrow again this year. Group 5 beans.

Central Minnesota | our maturities will be way different than yours. We grow .8-2.1's around here, and I've always had very good luck with asgrow beans.

Jefferson Co. Florida | Asgrow has the best beans I have found for the south. I have averaged 50 plus the last couple years with quite a few 70bu. I like the late 6s early 7s. Stephen Edited by PnutFarmer 5/12/2014 20:47

Davidson County NC | I plant anything and they all do good if the right variety is in the best field for it to perform. I've had success with asgrow, pioneer, NK and southern states. I'm trying some stine this year to see how they do as well. If you have something you like don't switch because a salesman wants to sell you something. You can always do a test plot with them and see how they compare to what you plant now.

Dad and I argued this for quite awhile, and yes in this case father was right . Asgrow beans did very well for us and I bleed pioneer colors. Plant the Asgrow you will be very pleased

SE Iowa | I plant all Asgrow beans but 60% of all beans planted have Stine genetics in them. They have been the prominent breeder of soybeans for a long long time. They sell to many different companies

Delta | jholland - 5/12/2014 18:59 Salesman is trying to talk me into some Asgrow beans. Anyone have good results with them. Also what is the biggest difference between the various groups? JHolland MiddleGa I have had good yields with Asgrow. However I would advise against having a favorite "brand" when it comes to seed. Always plant what works best for your budget and environment. The 5332 on heavy land does very well.

PROSPECT, TENNESSEE | I like Asgrow beans, also, Pioneer beans. I have found one of each brand that works great here. I am looking at several new varities here this year, the RR's from Asgrow, and the "T" from Pioneer. I will say this..... Asgrow's quality is getting worse each year. I started planting Pioneer beans, I planted almost three hundred acres before making a major maturity group change, so I removed the plates to clean the brushes. There was hardley any splits, hulls, etc. I set in with the Asgrows, I cleaned the brushes the first day, my monitor was steadily showing pop. loss, sure enoudh the brushes were packed with splits. For the rest of the year we greased each morning and cleaned brushes till we changed back to Pioneer then the problem went away. Pioneers germination has been 85 to 90%, Asgrows have been...80%.

Davidson County NC | cotncrzy, i've noticed the same thing with asgrow beans. Germination is always 80% with them compared to 85 or 90% with the Pioneer beans. Also southern states beans are always in the 85 to 90% range, mostly 90% from the varieties I plant. The asgrow 4730 has been a good number for me on my farm.

SW Minnesota | Cross check actually variety numbers on tags with other Monsanto companies beans of similar maturity. Like stated stine has 60% of breed and varieties between companies overlap frequently. Even Pioneer has some of the same beans now that they have ventured into RR2's.
