Death comes to us all. Life's but a walking shadow | Got the corn off late and then came early deep snow that lasted all winter so I didn't get the corn stalks knocked down. It has been a wet cold spring and now it is getting late and getting behind. Normally I at least disk the corn stalks before planting beans but I wondering if maybe I could plant the soybeans down the row middles and roll down the stalks to get them below the flex head at harvest. I have conservation coulters on my planter. Does anyone have experience doing this and any advice?

Union Star MO | I plant into standing corn stalks every year without rolling them down. By fall they usually are on the ground anyways.

north central iowa | It was wet and late last year here and I planted in between the rows on the standing cornstalks. It was wet when I was planting and the rows of cornstalks helped hold me up in soft fields. I didn't roll the cornstalks and they didn't bother the combine. I took off the trash whippers because it was kind of sticky in places. They all grew. I don't think you even need those coulters on. I used a 3200 Kinze planter. Good luck with whatever you decide.

WC MN | Roll before or after planting, skip the disk. Flexhead will run lower and stalks rot a little faster.

Northwest Iowa | we plant beans into stubble every year. we plant at a 5 degree angle to the corn stocks. we think it helps knock the stocks over and at harvest the header feeds better.

Midwest | We plant straight into the stalks and use a no till coulter. I have pictures on my phone...but not on here yet or I'd post one.

I use no attachments and just plant at a 15-20 angle to the row. Combines just fine.

Midwest | Here's a picture or two from yesterday. Row cleaners on corn units are locked up so they do push a few stalks out of the way but aren't needed. (none on split bean rows) No-till coulter is only thing in the ground in front of the openers. Pilot Grove, Missouri | You will be fine planting beans down the middle of the corn rows. The only problem you might have combining will be if a root ball sticks on a sicle guard and starts pushing. running at a slight anble with the combine will solve this. Patrick
