Did jd ever make an open station 4050, 4250, 4450? Just thinking on would make a handy yard/odd job tractor.

There are a few 4-post canopy models around. Pretty hard to find though. Patrick

I have a 4050 from the factory true open station, not too many around that are not 4 posts, I have been told that starting in the '85 model year OSHA rules were that everything had to have roll over protection. If someone has any documentation to back this up I would love to know.

I once passed an open station 4850 on the Highway. I'll assume it wasn't stock to come like that.

I saw either a 4250 or 4255 2wd on a dealers lot in Swayzee, IN probably 5 years ago. 2 post canopy and 15 speed powershift. I'm not a JD guy but that was one sweet looking rig with 42" rubber on the back

There may be a few out there, like others said look south. If you find one it might be ROUGH. I have a 4030, dad a 4040, both open with 2 post ROPS, you are right, very handy yard tractor. Works great for augers if you are 6' or so you can reach controls from the ground.

We bought a new 4255 2 wd open station. Don't recall the exact details now, but it seems like it wasn't much more than a comparable 4055 and quite a lot cheaper than a comparable 4455. 15 speed, 3 outlets + power beyond, 14.9 X 46 duals. Had a loader on it, ran augers, one of my favorites to cultivate with.

Have a 2-wd factory open station 4250 without a roll bar. Tractor has a quad range tranny with the transmission decal in Spanish. Great yard tractor, but have used it on a 8 row JD corn planter, 8-16 Kinze bean planter, 15 foot JD 750 drill and 15 foot bat wing mower. Very easy to get on and off the tractor especially for grinding feed. Just a very enjoyable tractor to operate especially in tight situations and mowing roadsides and waterways.
