NESD | I'm looking for a new or near new 8 row 30in non chopping corn head, I am trying to decide between a 3408 caseih, 4408 caseih or a 830 drago. Any thoughts would be welcome. This would be on a 5088 combine. does anybody have or know of good pictures of the new 4400 series caseih.

Southwest Iowa | We went from a 3408 CaseIH corn head to a Drago 12 row, Series II last year and weren't very impressed with it. The main reason from going away from the CIH head was we were getting some header loss that no matter what we seemed to do, couldn't get it to an acceptable level. Didn't happen in every hybrid, but happened enough that we traded for the Drago after talking to some neighbors that have them, reading reviews about them and so on. I was actually pretty disappointed in it's performance. I know there were some differences between the 2 different series of heads, but we were surprised at how much shelled corn that thing left behind. Again, it didn't happen on every hybrid. But when it did happen, you definatily noticed. We sped the head up, slowed it down, adjusted the snoot angles and a few other things I'm sure the dealer did that I can't think of right now. As of right now, we can't see what all the hype about them is about.
We currently still have the head and are hoping they'll be able to come down 1st thing this fall when we start shelling corn and help us get this thing figured out, whether it's on their end or our end as far as the shelling problem goes. The 4400 CIH's look pretty good and they "say" they've addressed the shelling problem that everybody around here seemed to have with the 3400's. By the end of the 2014 harvest, we might be back to running a CIH head.

Southwest Iowa | How did you like the head? Did it seem like an improvement over whatever you were running before? |

| After having a 3212 for three years and a 3408 for two years I would strongly recommend looking at something else. Last fall we demoed a Gerringhof 12 row but was told by a good friend who is one of their deslers that the newe heads weren't the heads the older ones (2012 & older) were. We looked at a Drago but had some concerns as tye closest desler was over an hour away, compared to 20 minutes to the CIH dealer. After looking at a 4412, we decided to trade for it. They appear to have made several changes & everything we heard about them was positive. Told our CIH dealer if it wasn'tbas claimed we'd have a Drago sitting in the shed. |

| Tell us all about the features and performance of the 4400 series. How impressed were you? What did you have before to compare to? |

Central IL | I had an 8-30 drago because I hated the 2208 we had at the time. Was pretty impressed with the drago while we had it (2009-2013). It was the best head for down corn bar none, and yes I ran it in down corn next to a Deere, believe me it was better! Just traded it for a 4408, appears they have addressed some of the issues with the 2208. Just hope it does down corn close to as well as the drago did. |

SE MN | I have a Drago, but no experience with the newer CaseIH heads. However, my Drago servicing dealer is also a CaseIH dealer and the service manager there has told me more than once that the Drago sells and holds up much better than the CaseIH. I thought that sounded interesting, but I have no reason not to believe what he was telling me. There is also another CaseIH dealer who sells Drago that told a similar story to my friend who goes to that dealer for his Drago parts. Are the red heads that bad? I don't know, but I really don't think so. I do know that the Drago is very good for harvesting and saving corn. |

N IL | This was from a previous thread on the same subject from last fall...
I had a chance to demo the 4412 today on our farm. We own a 3400 series cornhead and have to say were very impressed with the new head. Our dealer brought us out a drago 3 weeks ago to demo and we refused to give it up and have been using it ever since. The amount of trash the 3408 takes through the combine and the horrible shelling became even more evident after running the drago. we could run 1.5 mph faster and could find very little corn on the ground. The 4412 is very comparable to the drago as far as the amount of trash going into the head. It is minimal. As far as shelling, i think the drago still has the 4400 beat. I closed the deck plates as far as i could to still get the stalks thru and even slowed up the feederhouse but still was finding corn on the ground behind the head. It appears to be a very well built head and is a vast improvement over the 3400, but i think we're going to end up ordering a drago for next year |

| That's interesting, neighbors bought a new Drago and dealer had to keep bring out a CNH head to keep him going when Drago was broke down. They ended up trading for the CNH head. He also said there were days he could not pick because there was so much build up of trash with the Drago.
