NC IL I80@68 | Looking at 28-30 ft gooseneck /hydraulic beavertail trailers . Am getting old and tired of wrestling with ramps and after yesterdays episode of loading track skid steer IT'S time to get one with hydraulic tail and jacks !! The three mentioned seem to be the popular ones in this area , any others ? Price seems pretty even on those mentioned . What's the good and bad of them . Load trail seems to be the dominant one but nobody seems to have anything in stock like I want . Found a couple Diamond C's , going looking day after tomorrow . Thanks for all advice .

NW KS/ SC ID | judging by our PJs, a 2009 26' bumper pull deckover, and the 2011 24 ft bumper pull heavy car trailer style, I think they fired the welder that put our 07 25 ft deckover goose together, so I would give the OK to PJ. look over the website really good, and find a dealer that will let you order one in. the problem is to have a competitive price, most PJ dealers order the Quality Brand axles, which are anything but. they are import junk. Dexters are optional and have to be ordered. the 3 ramp system isnt bad, they are spring loaded nicely. we dont have a single dovetail on our place, all straight tails for what we haul, but a good buddy of my dad's whom i worked for in college runs PJ dovetails, so I got to throw plenty of ramps. I personally like a system that is manually operated, murphys law states something electrical quits before it is back up ready to go down the road. :) we have a Load Trail car trailer, and the wiring is decent (although ours, an 08, is NOT wired to code, figured that out putting a new plug on. white and blue wires were all that were correct) and the construction is good. design and engineering is better than average, as is the PJ. both the PJ and the load trail have an air ride option, and both have a nice deep full width toolbox that I like. most others have some pathetic low pro toolbox or a chain rack. I have looked alot at Kaufman, after asking here on NAT, they sound flexible to little changes on the trailer, so I am thinking we will stop by the factory to see what we can do. I like some PJ designs and will see if we can get a box beam outer rail and big neck toolbox. out of the cheaper trailers, Kaufman seems to have their stuff together. they seem to be a hot-shotters favorite, which is always good. IMO for a tandem dually, a 32 footer is a nice size. you run out of room quick, and its nice to comfortably haul a combine platform. the goosneck design allows you to really cramp it into places, so IMO dont worry about the extra length. ![]() Chebanse, IL..... | We like our Load Max (Load Trail). You can custom spec them any way you want, but it might take a few weeks for mfg. We bought from Illinois Trailer Sales, Monticello (W of Champaign). http://www.illinoistrailersales.com/ The only thing we'd add next time is a step on the RH side (only ordered one on the LH side) and a factory winch mount. Not the winch, just the mount. We added our own, but I bolted vs weld. It's OK....but should've got factory mount.

Central / West Texas | That is exactly what I bought last year. 32' load max. Really like it so far over the 32' big tex it replaced. It pulls nice and does not drag the tail everywhere. The big tex drug everywhere, even in town on our side streets. My only dislikes so far are, the license plate is mounted about 4' in from the back of the trailer, making it almost invisible. Pretty sure that is going to get me pulled over sometime. Trailer cost as much as two regular trailers of same size. So far I really like all the loading capabilities with being able to park stuff on the tail and raise it up. Things like our 6410 jd and batwing shredder. I can now load it more to the rear and get some of the tongue weight off the pickup.

NW IL | How was it backing that wagon on just right? haha To the OP, those hydraulic tails are nice if you can sacrifice the extra weight. For some that is a no go. We bought a new 30' last spring. We decided against the hydraulic tail mainly for the cost. Ours is a Mustang. (used to be locally made in Iowa, but were bought out, still made the same, but made by Trailerman in Missouri now... bought it from Roeder Bros in Bellevue, IA roederbrosinc.com I ordered a few options for ours. We went with the two fold over ramps, and the pop up center. I did not want the 3 rear ramps because thats one more ramp to throw when 90% of the time you don't need it, also the 3 ramp setups leave space between the ramps and I wanted a flat deck on the tail with minimal gaps. For the 10% of the time when you need that 3rd ramp, We had them build a carrier and have a slide in ramp that is behind the axles on the right side... Works great... Also ordered a piece of channel in the neck for a winch mount, and a sliding ratchet rail with 4" ratchets on the left side.... (my favorite option). These options added to the cost a little more then I was expecting, but after using it they are worth every penny to me.

North Central OH | Bought a new PJ in 2010. Had it 6 months and rust was coming thru and paint coming off. Got rid of it and bought a Corn Pro. Little more money but twice the trailer.
