SW Minnesota | I've been doing some research here and from what I gather, the moisture sensor on these combines is pretty much a step backward from what they had on the 10 and 50 Series combines. It also appears that the later model/replacement moisture sensors are an improvement from the first ones. So my question is - how can you tell if a used machine has the "latest and greatest" sensor on it or not? And what exactly was the issue with these sensors - mechanical, electrical, etc? Thanks! |

Alliance, NE | On our old 9670 dirt is what caused ours to fail while combining dry beans. We learned to remove the fuse and disable it in beans. |

SW Minnesota | Is this what the newer-style plunger was supposed to remedy? |

| There are a few things u can do to improve them. There is a new style plunger and u can change the thermistor along with circuit board or sensor cells depending on the problem |

Alliance, NE | We never had anything but a 2009 9670 and now a 2013 s670. The 9670 had the plunger style and everyone i spoke to had to kill power to it in dirty conditions. Im not sure if they ever updated or redesigned it. the s670 has a small auger that takes the sample i believe. similar to the one we had on our 2002 2388 International combine |

North central North Dakota | I had an Ag Leader PF3000 system on my JD9610 and really liked it. When I got my 9870 I used the 2600 display and the JD equipmed sesnors. Finally this past fall I changed it out to the Ag Leader system. I already had the Ag Leader display for planting so that was not part of the extra expense. If you look at the new series combine you will see that it is made by Ag Leader. I have been very happy with my changeover. |

Anamoose, ND | I am of the opinion that those moisture meters just like to be held and touched every now and then. Ours will work good for weeks then one day it will quit working. Take the moisture sensor out, put it on the bench, blow everything off, reinstall and it will work great for a few more weeks. |

Mississippi | We have to take ours out and put them in the office when not using them ! to much humidity not good for them they say. Had to replace the whole thing this year because I didnt have that info I guess I missed it in the manual haha. |

Hudson, Il. | +1 They fill with water and that burns out the motor. There is a reason Deere went to an AgLeader moisture sensor, because they work, and have since 1992. I believe they are using an AgLeader elevator senser also on S series. |
