Subject: D2 Governor Again

Replaced D2 governor on my 97' Kenworth and the new governor leaks air out of the exhaust port constantly. Tried adjusting the cutout but that does no good. All lines are hooked up correctly near as I can tell. Truck shop thinks new one Is bad as well. Any other thoughts?

occasionally you will get a bad one.But double check the lines off of the markings on the D2.

Bypassed air dryer and now it will build pressure. Thinking about rebuilding compressor to reduce some of the oil in the air system. What do I need to do with the dryer?

Exchange the compressor price the rebuild for the dryer and a exchange then make your mind up about that.Sometimes on special they have the updated cannister style for less than the kit for what I assume would be a ad9.You must have a line mixed up unless it did this to start

It is possible that the old governor had a plug in that port. Some ports are joined together. Perhaps this one is joined with the one that dumps the dryer.

Governor was puking air around the rubber cap on the old one and immediately started puking air out of the exhaust on the new one. Lines aren't mixed I double checked this afternoon. Suspect the dryer was the problem from the start. I have a line from the dryer and a tank line to the governor. The first time I poured alcohol down the discharge line it puked out the end of the governor so that was what tipped off the local guy to bypass the dryer. Dryer was painted over but from the looks of it. It's been there awhile.

After bypassing dryer secured everything down and adjusting my cut out and we now have full pressure. Still haven't got brakes released but at least we have air pressure now.

I also think the dryer was the problem, the air dryer should be replaced every year or two.I forget the brand the KW uses but it is expensive if it is the same as the one on a 2010 T800 I did this summer.I think the next time I will put on a Bendix so I can get one from other places than a KW dealer.

If I remember right the law now says 135 psi. It used to be 125 for cut out pressure.
