has any one had this trouble.we have a 2950 jd with cab which has a hyd. clutch. sometimes you can step on the clutch and try to shift either the range or the gear lever and you can't shift into gear, all it does is grind gears, you grind them a fair bit and play with both levels and push the clutch a few times, after a few bad words, then the next shift you make it shifts smooth as can be. hope I explained my trouble enough for someone to comment on my trouble. thanks for any feedback

Probably a hydralic clutch that needs replaced.

Embarrass WI
On my 2955, if you try to shift with the 2 speed(rabbit and turtle) in rabbit it won't shift well. Drop the 2 speed into turtle and it shifts much better. Not sure if a 2950 is set up the same.

I might be rembering wrong but the 2950 we had did something like that once and I believe we had to replace a fluid holder on the firewall between the cab and the engine then bleed the air out of the fluid tube.

If pumping helps you probably have air in the hydraulic clutch. I just replace both the master cylinder and slave cylinder on my 2940. I knew the slave had a slight leak, but had been keeping an ey on the fluid. Went to use it one day and had a real hard time getting it in gear. Figured I would bleed the air out and use it for the day, then replace the slave at a more convenient date. Tried bleeding it and lost what little pedal it had and never could even get it to pump up again. Replaced master cyl and slave cyl. (figured I must have damaged the master somehow trying to pump up the pedal and bleed it). Filled the slave cylinder with fluid before installing it, put on the master cyl. and bled the system by pushing the rod back into the slave cyl then letting it extend slowly, repeated many times. and it has worked great since. Both parts together were right at $500 from Deere. Patrick

If fluid reservoir is low. You have clutch cyl leaking and needs replaced. At one time there was shifting update to install at that time .
