Sounds like you need to buy the Macdon, if you are really concerned about putting the head on any color of combine you wish...

Headsight has a sensor kit for the Macdon that activates the Contour Master and that will make the Macdon cut as good or better than the deere 98% of the time.

I agree. Buy the Macdon then it's just a matter of an adapter plate.

I ran the Deere head on a Deere combine. Will have my MacDon back next year. Get the MacDon, keep it simple

Why are you on this rip of putting deere stuff on red equipment?

Your better off leaving the green equipment with green software and hardware and red with the red! Mixing only makes for headaches.

Best advise I can say, option one. use the head you already have this year and trade in everything if you swap colors.
Option two, buy a Macdon. Put the deere bish adapter and when or if you get a case you trade in and swap the bish adapters.

Friend of mine bought a Deere flexdraper and was told that it would work on his 7230 (pretty sure that's the model). Well, it didn't. He ended up renting an S series for the draper. Pretty sure he bought the S series now so he has a Deere combine for soybeans and a CaseIH for corn. I'm not sure why it didn't work, but he spent quite a bit of time trying to make it work.

Because it is nice to know all your options and no one has been able to answer my questions. There used to be a ton of red combines running around with green platforms.

It's not that I'm not considering a macdon, but I have good deere support and not sure how the macdon support around me is yet.

Every thread I read one guy says the macdon is the way to go and then the next guy says the deere is better and all the videos I see showing how good they are supposed to flex are on flat ground.

I do understand wanting options. "YEARS AGO" that's the WHOLE answer right there. My family had a IH815 combine with a deere corn head. NO electronics that will ROYALLY make your life easier and harder all at the same time. JD and CNH (every brand truely) don't want farmers to "match brands" that's why the electronics and "isobus" are all different to the point where its a pain to make it work.

Do you have a neighbor that runs a Macdon in the same type of field conditions? Or maybe get a demo?

Personally haven't seen a jd flex draper around here work, all Macdon or flex augers. Md will flex as in smile and frown better than flex auger, can be measured in feet. The three pivot backbone allow each section to follow ground separately terraces and berms. Flex augers will shine in smaller hollows measured in inches (like washouts). The ridged backbone keep it from flexing anything beyond what the cutter bar movement allows.

Most (not all yet) Case dealerships have signed up to be Macdon dealers even with CNH pushing their own draper.

Them are my findings after running Macs on a harvest run from Texas to north Saskatchewan and around Ontario.

Don't believe there is a conversion made. I would just trade both when you switch, don't think you will have any problem getting rid of the Deere draper. I think your choices for draper are limited. Besides Case, the other choice is 9250 dynaflex draper (Gleaner or Massey the same). It is a much better mate for the case combine. On my terrain, which sounds similar to yours, it is a MUCH better head. Not even close, because it is a flex cutterbar (like the Deere), where the MacDon is a fixed cutterbar/ flex head. The Deeres have forward tilt on the combine, the case and others have it on the head. Just make sure the Dynaflex has all of the updates.

JD, FD-75 has heavier drives, nothing wrong with a FD-70 there were updates for FD-70, need a good Mac-Don tech show you how to set it up, also header gear speed need to meet feed house speed for you machine, no big deal, change sprockets. Yes you will need adapter plate kit, normally comes with all parts you need, problem I see here is product support, all OEM'S have there own head and push them, my landlord has 3 S690's with JD drapers I have rode on machine, run it, very impressed, cut just as low as a Mac-Don, he raises a lot of edible beans, guess what I am saying demo each one, then make your decision, Scott.
