Sandy Hook, MB | Hello Gambler
Most new auto antifreeze has Bitrex in them to keep your pets & children from drinking them. |

NC Iowa | plumbers antifreeze is probably propylene glycol, which in not poisonous like ethylene glycol. |

Phillips Co NW Kansas | Rv anti freeze is bio degradeable. That is what I would use. |

Sac & Story county IA | Is there a difference between RV anti freeze and boiler anti freeze? Both are propylene glycol, right? Anti corrosion shouldn't be a factor for my use. Only polyethylene and stainless, so not any dissimilar metals to bother. |

Wallis, TX | I'd bet if I went into NAPA this morning, I'd still be getting 32F washer fluid. |

i think rv antifreeze is alcohol based. you can get it for around $3 a gal. propylene glycol boiler anitfreeze like cryotek is about $17 a gal, so must be a difference.

Leeds, North Dakota | When I built my shop with floor heat, didn't think much about plumbing antifreeze, was around when the plumber was filling system, asked him what kind of antifreeze is it, designed for floor heat, mfg of boiler required this or no warranty, 15 dollars a gallon, almost fell over, Scott. |

E.Central MN | And you should be testing the water for the boiler every year, something I didn't know until I talked to an outdoor wood boiler guy. I guess it makes sense, its basically a big radiator with a heating unit made out of metal that corrodes over time. |

Sac & Story county IA | Here is an ad for RV anti freeze at HD. Says Propylene glycol based formula
I have been around water heating at a church with 60 year old system and the town water is terrible. I have seen dissimilar metal problems. And a lot of failures. I think I have those problems solved.
I am the designer, builder, owner, no warranty involved. Plumbers boat payment, either.

Wi | Auto antifreeze is almost all Ethylene Glycol based and has many additives that plug up the heat exchangers in plumbing systems. Plumbing and RV antifreeze are generally Propylene Glycol based due to it being less toxic and generally "food safe". Since its used to winterize houses and RV's where people will possibly consume the water. It is good for preventing freezing but automotive antifreeze is better at preventing overheating.
Generally RV antifreeze is what we always use for the sprayer although windsheild washer fluid can be purchased a little cheaper. |
