Beaver Dam, WI | Replaced clutch this spring, however that did not solve the problem. Dealer says it the dual power out. I also noticed hydrolics are very very slow yet they are set in fast position. If you idle tractor the hyrdrolic warning light and alarm come on. Is their a correlation between dual power and maybe a bad hydrolic pump? I already feel like the dealer took us on the clutch. |

arthur , ontario | hope they offered you the lube?? if the pump is weak then yes your dual power is now likely bitched too! had a 7710 that spent way too much time in a dealers shop and after doing the dual power, then got me on a pump too? accountant asked me what I bought from them when he seen the bill for over 9 grand! hope they have mercy on you? |

Beaver Dam, WI | No I'm taking it in the shorts I know that but they shafted me for a clutch which wasn't bad and now tractor has to be split again. |

NE WI | The TW35 has a separate low pressure pump in the transmission and is not part of the main hydraulic pump. You can still do a pressure test on the side port where the filter housing is. should be 155 to 185 PSI at a high idle with warm oil. Check with the dual power in high and low. Also press each brake petal, press the differential lock petal and engage the PTO while in high and low to see if the pressure sags in any of these conditions.
Also check the dual power line screen as it may be plugged. Plugged screen would cause a drop in pressure to the DP clutch pack causing slip. Could also be a bad solenoid valve for the dual power. There is a Bobcat part number available for the coil that is exponentially cheaper than buying from CNH. Search the yesterdays tractors Ford forum for this number as I don't have it handy.
Also bad brakes can plug the filters. When was the last time the suction and main hydraulic filters were changed? I would change them and cut the old ones apart to look for metal flakes/paste.

$9k !!!! Did they have to replace the entire dual power housing and planetary gears in it? I can't see where $9k went as the clutch pack parts and seals are maybe $1200 and a new aftermarket pump is $500. |

arthur , ontario | well it's like this....had them initially rebuild the small clutch pac since I didn't have a press or the tooling to do it my self!then after it was all back together it worked for a day, then quit again, since I was too busy with spring seeding? I let them tear into it. turns out the retaining clip for that clutch pac popped out and completely destroyed everything! so I politely asked if they had the wisdom to put a new retainer in when they reassembled it? got vague excuses and no use of the tractor while they waited for a used DP to come in from somewhere in the states?finally got it back and wonders? it eats a piston the second day on the round baler! has sat ever since, will bring it back into my shop once I get the tw30 hanger queen out first! oh ya it dropped a valve and just got the block back after my machinist bored out the busted cylinder bore and press fitted a custom replacement! you sense I'm getting a bit tired of working on these donkeys? |

South Georgia | you can change pump your self then worry about dual power.....dual power is in where clutch is ...you can split your self and get someone to build dual power.....i had a tw 20 that i done 2 yr ago....pump will run 500$ some what....cant rember the price on dual power...i also put a clutch in it also....I also put a pump in it also......check your filter first for metal you could have other problems starting[could be stopped up]....the whole story is tw 20 1stdone clutch and rebuilt dual power ....then drove 3hr then shaft in trans went bad ....pulled trans and rebuilt it 6000$...then put it together and had to put pump in it....when it rain it pours sometimes. |

| Your first step is to not take it back to those clowns. Next step is to pressure test the DP circuit. Test in high, then low, with the PTO engaged, brakes and diff lock as mentioned above. I'm not overly familiar with the TW's as I've never worked on them. I'm quite familiar with the 10's. The principle should be about the same. I'd want to see a minimum of 160 psi at a fast idle, not full throttle. Most of them will make it at WOT.. not all will make the cut at idle.
When you pressure test, watch for slow fill times on a clutch or a significantly lower pressure in that circuit when the clutch is engaged. That would indicate a leak. Slow fill times of more than a couple of seconds would suggest to me that there is a filter screen plugged up, mabey from brake material disintegrating into the oil. An overall low pressure problem could suggest a bad pump but it could also suggest a low setting on the pressure regulating valve... and I've seen a few of them. Whatever you do, do the pressure test before splitting it open this time. The gauge will show you where the problem is at. Otherwise you're only taking stabs in the dark and those tend to be expensive.

Beaver Dam, WI | Thx fellas excellent info here. When I first got tractor back after the clutch work I put it on the planter and it was still slipping. I called dealer and their like were busy I said I don't care spent money on new clutch and tractor don't work, they sent out a retired mechanic that now was parts runner. Very nice guy. Said clutch free play was not adjusted. He adjusted it than tested dual power and said its out. Told me just to use high and no problems. I asked more on how to fix dual power he said had to split tractor again and he would have thought dual power word have been checked. Well during some rain days I went to dealer and spoke to manger he said they didn't see any problems with dual power, I said how could that be tractor never worked since its return. I knew that was crap....... so he offered to pick tractor up for free no charge for the pick up but I had to take the rest in the shorts. I said ya I'll get it in sometime, walked out. #@#$%%##@. I'm not a mechanic I know stuff happens but key point in this situation tractor never worked on its return same sytoms as when it went in. I think clutch was fine the whole time,,,,, try proving it now. Very poor service I could under stand if tractor worked for awhile, but it never did. |
