Yep, I've got some literature from them.  Was the big dog before the 503.  I think there was exponentially more 101s and 151s built.

I've never heard of a 181 ! Thanks for the picture ! Dad's first SP was a 141, and the first combine I remember.

That is a great old picture.  The 101/151/181 were a clean sheet design, nothing in common with the 141 that had lineage starting with the original 123-SP.

I think it was the precursor of the 503 with about 46 inch wide cylinder. The 151 was the precursor of the popular 403 built from 62 till late 60's with around 37 " cylinder. The 101 was around a 28 inch wide cylinder and I assume was very popular in the corn belt with the combine replacing corn pickers and shellers in the late 50's to mid 60's.

Red, I think IH had a different model numbers for hillside and level land combines in those days.

Central Iowa

IH offered the 151 hillside combine which replaced the 141H combine. The 151 was replaced by the 403 hillside in 1963.

The hillside combine became the 453 sometime during the 15 series combine era.  Essentially looks like a 715, sometimes IH released a model number that didn't necessarily make sense but I guess they had a reason.

Dearfield Co.
Dad had a 151 he bought new and drove it home from the rail yard in hastings nebraska. He had a dream combine which was a 181 .So we chased several of them never finding one that was decent but in Ks it seems every dealer had to sell 2 of them .As I grew older I realized the capacity increase the 181 had over the 151.We still have the old 151 it sits on a hillside dying of exposure.Lots of scrappers wanted to haul it off but it will set in the same spot he parked it until I am gone then someone else can deal with it.
