ok | Which would be more useful in clearing brush (cedar trees) and making passages thru canyons..I won't need to move much dirt if I pick my paths...I am caught between a rock and a stump on this. I can see the skid steer being much more versatile. I can also see spending a fortune in attachments for it. on the other hand a dozer can get very expensive in repairs....either machine I get o want to be able to haul with my 1 ton pickup and trailer...so size is a deciding factor as well. I am spread out about 40 miles so I have to be able to haul Edited by croptecsolutions 8/18/2013 21:34

IA | If you have to haul with your pickup skidsteer. If you want to get something done a dozer would be what i would pick

East central Indiana | Our deere 329d can move alot stuff in a hurry. I'd just go with the biggest ctl you can haul and afford. You really only need 2 attachments for that a grapple root bucket, and a 4n1 dirt bucket. Those to you can do what you want.

Nwmo | I agree depending on tree size a ctl will take out a lot of trees quick. Over 4 in diameter though and its going to be slower. A track loader would be better than both in my opinion, a dozer gets to much dirt in your tree pile. Devin

On the Delmarva | With a root rake grapple & 4in1 bucket those machines will push with a Cat D4.

How big are the cedar trees? If they are less than 6" in diameter a big skid steer with a tree puller will take them out fast and do very little damage to the ground. I've beem amazed at how much better of a job of clearing brush and small trees the skid steer does with a puller than a dozer can do, also the puller will get 90% of the roots pulled out with the tree so there isn't much cleanup afterwards.

lizton IN | I have both I use a skid steer just like the picture from Cliff with the tree puller. If the tree gets to big for that I use a backhoe. The bulldozer i use to push up the brush pile to burn it. That is in the spring early summer in Indiana. Trees come out better. This time of year with dry dirt they don't pull out vary well or dig out. I vote for as big of skid steer as you can get. with a tree puller and a grapple bucket you can get a lot done.

western slope | I understand that (Bobcat?) sells a large rotary saw attachment for the skid loader. I have heard that you can clear a good many acres per day with it, It will cut the cedar right even with the ground.

Somerville, Indiana | when the folks can get to where they can clear ground as fast and good as a 6C please let me know when and where this is going on....That would surely further my education.
