Subject: Power beyond hydraulics

Frytown, Iowa
Say your pump flow is rated at 22 gpm and you need 26 to run a planter and vac properly. Will a power beyond remote pick you up some flow? The ratings from the pump are through the regular remotes, right? but the power beyond is free flow. Wondering if I was short on hydraulics if hooking up a power beyond to the vac would free up enough additional gpm to raise planter and markers with the remaining hydraulics.

Also was talking to my uncle who was looking at similar set up and was saying cyclone planters had a oil pump and cooler on the hitch of their planter and you can take off the oil cooler and plumb your hydraulic oil on your planter hitch (john deere) to cool your oil if your pushing hydraulic flow. Anyone done this?

Thanks.

It won't give you any extra gpm just another port to get pressure from. Some times a remote won't flow full pump output and power beyond probably would but has no control capability. I know guys have run vac or hyd drive off power beyond but only because they didn't have outlets for everything.

If you use a power beyond for vac, you control the flow with a needle valve in the hose to the vac, that is the way I did it on a 6300 and 7810 that I had power beyond on, I have mine through a remote on a 7215R now and control the pressure on the valve on the touch screen, usually takes a little less than 3 gpm.

have a friend that has a 24 row white planter, and he runs the fans with tractor hydraulics, was setup for a pto pump,so it has the coolers on it yet. he is pulling with a newer jd tractor, and he is using the coolers for return oil flow, just have to make sure they are rated for the right gallonage.

Nope....you would need a 26 gpm pump if your planter requires that.

If one remote is limited to 22 GPM and your pump can do 35, for example. Power beyond should be able to deliver more flow than one outlet but will not increase total pump output. With power beyond you need to have a control valve on the planter to limit/control flow rates.
