Western Iowa
Got to looking at some older pics on my computer trying to find a pic for an ad on the classifieds and ran across one of my 4430 projects.

I know there are guys that do a lot better but I am not ashamed of my work. I am hoping over this winter to do a 4255 PS similar with some extra pep in the engine for the county fairs!

Between Omaha and Des Moines, 7 miles South of I80

That's a "Garvo planting tractor", right there.

Very nice.

What all does it take to add the front lights? What model do the parts come from? Looks Great.

I was thinking there was, but I just checked the specs of that radio online and it has a headphone jack.

They are a good little radio. My bobcat had one and I thought it would work well on the 4430 at the time. I would use the radio again, but would change the speakers on the rollbar to a different type.

Bobcat dealer in Sioux City keeps the complete kits on hand.

The lights are pretty simple, just a nose cone off a 55 series like a 4455, then just run a wire up to them. The nose cone just screws onto the hood in case you never have done one.....

Deere used to sell them as a kit for the older tractors, but I haven't purchased one in several years so I am not sure you can still get it.

no need to buy a 55 series hood nose. just cut the original one and put the 55 series lights in it. also on that little radio does in need a separate amp?

Been a long long time ago but I remember trying to cut out the old nose cone but attaching the light bezels didn't seem to work right.... am I remembering wrong?

I don't know what you mean by separate amp for the radio?

I guess I never had a problem attaching the bezels. I do know that stupid nut for lifting the fuel tank is in the way.

When I said separate amp I meant amplifier. In my skid steer it has a little radio similar to that one but it has a amplifier box mounted elsewhere. Problem is you can barely hear the radio.. so I wondered if my amp was bad or if I can get rid of it and buy a little radio like that and run it right to the speakers

That little Jensen radio seems to have plenty of power, but it does depend some on the speakers you use. There is no separate amp for it.

That looks awesome. I'd love to have something like that for a mowing/auger/blading/messing around tractor.

I was thinking of doing the same radio for my 3020 and mounting the speakers to the roll bar. What would you do different? I thought about just using the headphone jack and using the headphones for hearing protection. Looks great!

You'll need to bring the 4255 to Sac next year. Where did the 4430 go? Here's "Eleanor" before the Sac pull.

Shouldn't there be a sticker next to the shifter to give approximate speeds in each range/gear?

Looks good!

I plan on coming over to sac next year, got a bet going on over there!! The 4255 is a 15sp powershift, but I am not sure how far I can push the engine and not fry the tranny.

That 4430 in the pictures is about 2 miles from here. Some neighbors bought it off the east coast and got taken a bit on the condition. The big one is somehow on the truck ride here the low range went out of the trans..... how weird!

I did another 4430 just like it a few years before when I was just learning to paint, it is also still in the neighborhood, but time has faded the paint......... I hope to learn how to clear coat on the 4255.
