Northwest Iowa | I should probably know this but what does the "HD" mean on some of the Case IH Steiger model numbers? |
Ringwood, IL (NEIL) | Heavy duty. I've only seen it on the steigers. I think it adds a tow cable and other beefed up components. I think these models are what are used for scraper work. I'm shooting from the hip. No insider knowledge |

Elsmore, Kansas | I believe that's pretty much a spot on. |

North Central Illinois | Bigger axles and a heavy duty transmission. The kicker here is I think you can only get the HD model they do not offer the standard. So if you think about it, Case is up selling farmers to use scraper models in row crop production. |

ND | There are 3 versions of the Steiger: Standard, HD, and Scraper. The heavy duty is more beefed up as the same hp standard version. like the 485 standard has an inboard 4-planetary and the HD has an inboard compound planetary. The Scraper tractors have heavy scraper axles, heavy duty drawbars, built-in frame weight, and standard equipment is differential locks, backup alarm, tow cable, and beacon lights. They are also ROPS and FOPS Certified. |

| The HD is the old standard. They actually made a lighter axle and called it the standard. Started this with the tier 3 units. Scraper tractors use the hd axle, scaper drawbar, and a little different trans software. I have know idea what inframe weight is. Never seen it. Standard axle seem to hold up ok. You don't see many of them. |
