Emporia, ks | I bought the tractor a few months back and used in planting and now on the rake but the other day the ac iced up so after it finally rained the other day, we took the hood off and checked the radiator & condenser and they were both plugged up and had many fins bent over. After a full day of blowing, washing & straightening fins, it was nice and clean. The next day I check the pressurizer motor and it was bad so when I had all that apart I used my hot water pressure washer to wash all the dirt and crap out of that area then made sure the new motor worked and put it all together expecting it to really work good now. I ran it some this evening and when I got back in the tractor, the blower wasn't running. The blower runs on all positions except high and the ac does not cool now. Do you think I got water in one if the cut out switches by the drier or what? Back in the old days when the chevy trucks ac wouldn't run on high, it was usually a blower motor resistor problem. Any ideas? tia

mw | Probably a bad squirrel cage fan, there are two of them and if one is bad then they wont run on high. There is also a little piece of tin with resistors on there that they recommended i replace, happened with our 7800 and 7810. The fans are under the seat, but its not a terrible job.

Emporia, ks | would that cause the compressor not to kick on too?

sc ia | The resister powers the slower speeds and I think a relay powers the high speed on the blower motors. If one motor is bad, the other will still run on all speeds but feel weak. I can check my service manual tomorrow if someone else doesn't chime in on the relay.

Waxahachie, TX | Have to look at the diagram in the AM.. But it uses a relay (it goes through the relay for all speeds but only activates it for high.. ) I can't remember if there is a fuse for the high only.. ( thought there was.. Will look)

Wallis, TX | IIRC on a 7710 the current goes thru switch and resistor for slower speeds and then on high the switch activates the relay to give full 12volts.

Oxford County, ON | When the resistor was bad on our 7400, we only had high speed. You probably have one-to-all three fans getting tired. We ended up replacing all 3 on our 7510 a couple winters ago.

Emporia, ks | I just replace the pressurizer motor Monday because it wasn't working and now this happens.

Emporia, ks |
ok I had time to check it out a little better this morning and found the 20A fuse melted # F20 ( KCB2 relay-Right Blower-Purge, R/L Blower switch) is how it's labeled in the operators manual. I put another one in and it blows again but was warming right up. I pulled it out and any time I had the fan switch on any position, It would arc quite a bit when I touched the fuse in & out of the socket and I'm sure would melt it again if I left it on very long. Does that mean the right blower motor is pulling too hard?

I also swapped the relay K16 out with the spare and that didn't make any difference.
Edited by 57ringo 7/24/2013 11:18

Leeds, North Dakota | You found the culprit, Scott.

Waxahachie, TX | The F20 fuse carries the load for the pressurizer fan, the left blower fan high and the compressor.. F19 carries the load for the right fan high and both blowers on all speeds except high.. If the F20 is blowing or getting hot when not in high the problem is in the pressurizer or the compressor circuit. The resistance of the clutch should be 3.5-4.0 Ohms.. There is also a diode that could be failing.. I can't remember if its attached to the side of the compressor.. But it's close.. Try unplugging the compressor and see if the issue is still there...

Emporia, ks |
The clutch has 4.0 Ohms. If I unplug the pressurizer, the fuse doesn't get hot. When I have the blower motors and the pressurizer, the fuse gets hot whether I have the clutch plugged in or not. Deere sent me another pressurizer to ohm it and see if the first one is the problem. I checked the first one I got from Deere and it ohms .7 ohms and the one they sent today ohms 1.4. Would that be enough of a difference to matter or would you think the left blower motor is pulling to much according to what you're saying. Does that sound right?
Edited by 57ringo 7/24/2013 19:15

Waxahachie, TX | I'll look again in the morning.. Not sure if it matters for the blower circuit but is your serial number above or below 90,000.. (Different diagrams for above and below.. 12.5V/.7ohms=17.85 amps 12.5V/1.4ohms=8.93amps

Emporia, ks | I put the newest motor on it this morning and the fuse did not get hot. I guess the first new motor was defective.

Waxahachie, TX | Great... I should have just posted this before.. Just for FYI now.. Surprising that the fan was bad.. (image.jpg) Attachments ---------------- image.jpg (50KB - 559 downloads)

Emporia, ks | JDGnut, have you ever had a bad new motor like this?

| ||
Waxahachie, TX | Nope.. That's why I was surprised.. But can't say that I've ever put one in a 7000.. Usually 8's.. Bryan
