We have a maxxum 125, and it has been a huge thorn in our side. We have had a number of problems with suspended front axle. Stay away from that. We also had a problem with the high low shifting cable breaking through its plastic wrap. I have no idea why in the world case thought a cable would be a good way to shift from high to low on a loader tractor. It make 3-90 degree turns and will break through its plastic wrap so that it cant shift the fork on the transmission making you have to get out of the tractor to shift it to the desired range. We side dress our corn with it and set the front tires to 64 inches to do that. but to be effective for the loader or a bush hog we move them back out because the turning radias is not what it should be. Last but not least... the air conditioner is useless. case has worked on it countless times and finally got it to blow 42 degree air in the 95 degree sun. but all of the air comes out at waist level and lower. Cold air falls and they pull the air out at floor level behind the driver seat. a couple days ago in 90 degree weather i put a themometer at neck level and another at forehead level. Blowing 42 degree air it was 80 at neck level and 90 at forehead level. Id love to have a 6140R John Deere.

That's encouraging, I've got a Maxxum 125 value with the semi powershift that uses the high/low lever. No major problems yet but it doesn't get a ton of use either. Seemed much better than the cheap JD 6140D I considered as well.

Good Ol' East Texas
Shouldn't be that much different from a 125 pro and the Puma besides the transmission and maybe the frame. Some don't like the full power shift when using a loader since the reverse gears don't exactly match the forward gears like you can get with semi-power shift in the 125 pro. I hear people complain about the a/c in these tractors but as long you keep the filters clean and the doors and the window shut it keeps the tractor cool especially in our 100 degree heat. Which ever tractor you decide get the electric joystick. If you do a lot of loader work the mechanical joystick does not last at all we go through one or two a year on our 125 pros.

I don't know the difference, but we have a Maxxum 140 that I like. Turns really tight and comfortable. I'm not crazy about the four range shifting with high and low, but other than that I like it

Second 125 here, never had an ac problem yet. The first one had the std transmission, and it stick in 3rd gear one day, so we traded that one off and got the semi powershift and have had no problems. I just wish the cab was layed out like the magnums.

I have a Puma 140 with multi-control armrest like the magnums, and electric loader controls. The rear hyd remotes are manual, but thats okay for me. I use it for everything, 8' rotary mower, 14' mounted field cultivator, 23' 496 disc, 12 row Kinze pivot planter, and the L760 loader. Love the quick disconnect on the loader, it amazes my dad to see me drive by with loader and 5 minutes later come by with mower and no loader, then 2 hours later loader is on again!

AC is fine in my Puma, but anything was quite an upgrade from the 90 series Case we have. 500 hours, and two years later, no problems. Just a minor glitch with fuel gauge, but they got that fixed.

Overall very pleased with the Puma, looked at maxxums, but the cab was nicer on the Puma, IMO.

Good luck!
