Wi | blueraid - 7/1/2013 21:01 Can anyone tell me the differences in these trucks? I've tried looking these up but can't find any info on them. I'm thinking the L stands for long hood? Thanks guys. W900 is the series, many people just list them as that and leave the descriptor out which is fine as it doesn't mean much. W900L stands for long hood, however the door will be stamped W900B. Every W900L is stamped W900B, it has nothing to do with the hood, its the cab that is the reason for the B. To distinguish a W900L from what is commonly referred to as a W900B simply look at the fenders, grill and especially the space between the fender and the step box. W900Ls have a 130" BBC (Bumper to back of cab) The W900B has a 190". The W900B has a wider grille than the W900L. The W900B hood is nearly flat whereas the W900L has some slant to it with the Aerocab models. Non-Aerocab models will appear flat but will look longer than the Aerocab hoods as the hood itself is a little longer. where it meets the cowl. The reason the short hood W900 gets called the W900B and confuses a lot of people goes back to the early days. KW had the W900 (known as the W900a now) which had the round headlights and smaller cab, in the 80s they introduced the W900B model which had a new hood, and most of all a new cab that is still in use today. However now KW did not have a long hood truck, Peterbilt did and they saw the demand so in the 90s KW introduced the W900L which had the longer hood. Those who are around them know the differences easily, but it takes some time to know what you are looking at. Many W900Ls with the diamond interior have W900L stitched into the doors. This brings up another common confusion. Many people think the VIT interior is the button tuck. It is not. The Diamond interior is the button tuck, VIT just adds doors to the cabinets, quiet cab insulation and a couple other little things. You can't get VIT without the Diamond interior so it leads to some confusion among salesman who we all know confuse a lot of people. Splendor is the economy option for KW's and will not have button tuck. Here is a link to a post I made a little while back that goes through and breaks down a lot of info about KW models and such. http://www.talk.newagtalk.com/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=385432&mid=3066255#M3066255

WCIN | I think a W900L has a solid curved windshield. A W900B can be ordered with a short or extended (long) hood. B models have a split windshield.

Newdale, Manitoba, Canada | Mine has W900L stitched on the doors and has the long hood. However it has W900B on the door sticker as mentioned above. It has the split windshield. Andrew

Nope, another confusing KW trait. Cab spec means nothing. KW offers the aerocab with a single piece or split windshield and they also still offer the non aerocab which has the flat glass. All W900Ls are W900Bs on the door jamb. Both long and short hoods have two variations of each hood as well which throws some people. The aerocab hoods are different than the non aerocab hoods.
