Waxahachie, TX | Never even been around any baler but a green one.. Was calling about others parts and guy said he had a 650 for sale cheap.. A few new belts.. I'm guessing twine only.. What do I need to look for.. Probably only bale a few hundred bales a year..

NE SD | just overall appearance will tell you if it's had care or needs help, if the pickup isn't banged up to bad. They do have issues with bearings on upper roller and forming rollers. Also if it had a wide low profile pickup that makes big windrows easy and nicer bales, but standard should work fine. Keep belts in good condition Nice baler I like the size

. | I picked one up a couple years ago. Like Pete says the appearance says a lot. I have the wide pickup, have had some problems with plugging but just replaced a bunch of pick up teeth which I think will help. It makes a nice firm bale.

Piedmont, NC | Great baler. Simple. If you get it read these postings. Made a good baler into an outstanding baler! http://talk.newagtalk.com/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=393762&mid=313... http://talk.newagtalk.com/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=393986&posts=1...

Waxahachie, TX | Thanks guys.. I'll take the time to look at it this weekend.. I remember welding on the JD starter rollers for the same issues when they would get worn down.. Would never think to do it to another baler.. My only concern is that it's a twine machine.. Thanks again..

Ripley, Ontario Canada | They are a good simple baler, you want the wide pickup (it has augers). Check the belts, but they can be replaced just costs money. The auto wrap system is pretty simple and in a pinch you can bale with no monitor in the tractor if you have to, not as nice but it will work.

Wallis, TX | If its anything like the later models it won't like to feed big windrows, and may, in certian conditions, have trouble starting a bale. This is based off my experience with the Case RBX 564 (BR series of NH) baler. On the plus side, the red one I owned made a real dense bale.

North Alabama | Got a 640 and a 658 both are great balers we keep the hydraulic pressure system charged every couple of years just to keep bales real tight. Besides that routine maintence just like any other baler. oil drive chains everyday and sometimes twice a day and youll never have any chain problems. gonna trade the 640 for another 658 next year.

Waxahachie, TX | What improvements did the 658 get over the 650's? There are a couple of 658's for sale locally too.. Also found a JD466 in good shape but needs some work on the pick up... Still a twine machine too..

North Alabama | i dont exactly know much about the 650's but my 658 has bale monitor inside cab, its auto wrap, and is twine or net wrap.

Ripley, Ontario Canada | My 650 feeds a lot better since I put a wide pickup on it. The stuffers behind the pickup teeth make a big difference. One thing I learned is if you let the tension of the belts to work on them open the tailgate and put the tension back on before you open the hydraulic tension lock. The linkage for bale size can get out of place if you don't and that isn't good. The 650 is so much heavier than a 640, defiantly the better baler.
