I used to run the tires on my honda 4-wheeler at 4 psi. Ive found this spring that I much prefer running higher psi when I'm scouting fields and riding the roads a lot. How much is too much? I think I'm at 10 psi right now.

Wow that must ride rough! I can't stand any air in the tires hardly. I want just enough to make the tire stand up a little. Mine look like radials with a little "pooch" to them.

You're fine at 10 psi....but as others have said it must be a rough ride!

Sure the ride is rough. But good handling on the road is what I'm after. Could tell a huge difference on the little bit of pavement I'm forced to ride on occasionally. I guess I must be tough :) Back to my original question, how much is too much psi?

I'm just happy if they're not completely flat.

I dont think your too much, but they may wear the middles out faster. If i remember correctly the tester that came with our polaris sportman's only go up to 7 or 8 if i remember correctly.

But as somebody else said, i'm just glad if there is air in all 4 of them. seems like they are always flat. I think i run about 6 or 7 in ours.

I have a Polaris that has a suspension and air mine till I get a firm bounce when I hit it with my fist. Not a soft mushy one and not rock hard but a good firm bounce.

Renville Minnesota

We have a former Mechanic that worked on snowmobiles and atvs previous to working full time with us.

He said  "you can run em any psi ya want, but the best killer of ATV tires is too much psi..,...  5-7 is about perfect for maximum wear"

Another quote about battery's for Atvs.    Fill em with the acid mix, then let em sit for 24 hours, then charge em.    Filling then charging em will kill the battery within a year.   We thought small battery's were junk untill he informed us that.

Now I bet I know what ruined my last battery so quickly. The shop I got it at just said that was about the life of them, but then they like to sell batteries! Another old quote " To soon old, To late smart."
