Any opinions on JD 6430's. Using it for PTO work, augers and mowing. Would not put many hours per year on it and would also have a loader on it. What is the good and bad

Use one w/loader. Does not turn short but wheels set for 28 in rows for spraying. Good tractor.

Kind of a fair tractor. They took a good tractor, (6400, 6410) and overcomplicated it with a bunch of electronic crap. Who needs a computer screen on the right side of a chore tractor anyway. Of the two that I am around there is always a sensor flashing a warning about something. Lots of power for its size but takes lots of weight to hold the back end down with a loader on it. Jon

We have a 6430 premium. It spends 90% of its time on the hammer mill grinding hog feed. PTO work is no problem for it. No issues in 600 hours.

I filled my rear tires with rim guard for my 6430. Love the tractor. Have about 1800 hours on it. Now wish it was a premium model as i just got a new to me JD 7330 premium. Night and day difference in seat comfort. And those of us with bad backs can appreciate a good seat and the 7330 has it.

I have a 6430 Premium that came from a local cattle feeder that uses his tractors but maintains them and doesn't abuse them. It has 3400 hours on it and no major issues and a nice tractor for auger and batwing use. They did let me use a 7130 with 300 hours on it for a day while they were servicing and getting my 6430 ready to deliver and it was a sweet machine and I would have loved to had it instead but $100,000 is a little overkill for a auger and batwing tractor...lol

Make sure they have done the updates on the radiator(S). Ours had two radiator tanks ( one hidden behind other). Fluid would always get low on the hidden tank and cause tractor to go into limp mode (bad radiators). JD had a pip on this. Great tractor but the short wheelbase made it a little rough on field work- great chore tractor though.

If you think the 6430 has a lot of electronics look at a 6125R under the hood, 6430 is simple.

We had a 6420 IVT and it was a shop queen, always nickel and diming you to death.  Add to that it was one rough riding son of a gun, due to it short wheelbase and the fact I let the dealer talk me out of suspension front end.  Don't have any experience with a 30.

I've only spent a very little bit of time in a 6430 but I didn't like it. The ride suffers because of the short wheelbase, and I absolutely hated the position of the loader controls right next to your right leg. IMO the normal console crowds leg room enough, and the loader control mount is in a place where there isn't room for it.

We have 2 6430 Premium IVT'S, one with 640jd loader and both auto steer. Love both tractors, they do tend to overheat when round bailing straw, because of radiator getting plugged. It would be nice to reverse the fan and clean the radiator. We've also had 6400, 6410's, 6420's, the 6410's were real sweet tractors, but I still would not want to go back from our 6430's.
