I think you have a good idea. Good to be rid of that darn DEF fluid. What are the reasons you have for trading?

That 18L CAT engine in the Challenger tractor is a beast. An 865 would likely outpull a 9630T by quite a bit in a lugging situation. We demoed an 875B a couple years ago. I think we could have pulled our 45' soil finisher 12 mph+. As wet as we have been the last few years we ended up with a 500 quad. DEF is not an issue.

Is there a reason you want to go away from the quad? all nice tractors but given the choice I would take the quad over a 2 track any day

I bullyed up, and bought a 2011 Deere, last of the Tier 3's, so I am good for a while.

No DEF in my near future, and I am smiling high !  You can pump the Def fluid where
the sun don't shine.

535's were still Tier 3 and didn't use DEF if you wouldn't be so anti CaseIH and blind to the benefits of using DEF you would have probally known that.

And no I am not saying DEF is the greatest thing in the world but I look at it this way it is the lessor of the two evils kinda like voting for a congessman/president none of the choice are any good but pick the one the will do the least amount of damage, kinda like DEF while it not the whole solution it is the simplest of the current systems and more efficent than using EGR

I have a 9520T and one thing I would like better about the quad is the ability to turn away from potholes easier. I would recomend getting an hydraulic hitch if going with the deere. I put one on mine and it virtually eliminates the turning in wet conditions problem but it is not as nice as just turning the steering wheel like on a quad. Maybe your area doesn't have pothole problems. I have never driven a cat but they are supposed to turn better. The Cat gets the nod in virtually every post I have read comparing the Deere and the Cat so now when I am around a Cat I look the other way so that I can still believe I have the best tractor. LOL. Good luck with your decision.

Run them both. We never did run the Deere... the price deference was enough to end the discussion rather quickly. Granted we fell into a very good deal on our MT855c.

350hrs and love it! Two tracks are a bit different to run but the pros far outweight the cons.

Did you run a quad before and if so what are the pro's to 2 track over a quad? Had a local guy teasing me that if I ever get stuck he is going to drive circles around me with his quad before he pulls me out. I told him to play all he wants as long as he does pull me out afterwards. Lol. I wouldn't mind some ammo to tease him back with so I would like to hear pro's.

All good discussions on the quad until 4000 hours and your putting 15000 per track in bogies and tracks. This came from a mechanic friend of mine who advised me to look away. New ones may be different but look at the number of 10000 plus hour cats and try to find a Deere with that many hours.

We went away from a wheeled case IH four wheel drive. My brother and I both have poor backs, and I have a herniated disc in my neck to boot! We wanted a smooth ride and less slippage. My brother cant drive an articulating tractor... The side to side movement sends him to the chiropractor so we didn't even consider a quad.

Neighbors just bought one though so we will have some good neighborly competition going.

Two tracks take less hp to turn and less maintenance are some good reasons... But two tracks turning under heavy load can be a bit tricky. I just cheat the tool up a spit second and make a steering correction and drop it back down. Most of the time small corrections are just fine even under heavy loads. It's just a little different, once you catch on its cake. A quad will drive like a reg four wheeler I would assume.

If you go Quad I would definitely try to find one with the cummins motor. I like the Ivecos but I don't like a 12l motor in high power tractors!

The C15 in our tractor is louder then our Iveco was... But it will out lug anything out there. The C18 would be glorious to run lol!

So, you did not mention what you like now, must be the Deere track, or rubber tired.

Had a cat (875) for three years, ran a deere t for a fall and made our decision to add this to go along with the wheeled ones. Btw hoods are up due to new pan gaskets in both of them.

Going to assume that if you're looking into these 2 options that you are already aware of and comfortable with the pros/cons of the articulated vs fixed frame configuration chassis, and also that you are looking at MT865/875 for sizes as well as 9630Ts (not 9360). So with that said, this one is really quite an easy decision unless you are (and we all know of or have friends who are) one of those who just has to drive a green tractor for things to be right in the world. If you're not, and the decision can be made more the on the basis of the merits of the tractors and particularly their powertrains, that being a major part of a high hp tractor, then the Cat wins big over the Deere in the key areas of engine, trans, undercarriage. Now we've had Cat engines around the farm for decades and like them, have to admit it, but I'm sorry, a C18 with no EGR or emissions equipment on it vs. a 13.5L Deere with EGR?? Just do a little reading up on EGR, and if this is a tractor that you plan to keep for more than a year or two, why on earth would you pick one with EGR when you can still get the better, bigger engine without it? I apologize if I seem a bit harsh or strong on this topic, but I am not a fan of EGR systems on an engine - anybody's engine. It also goes without saying that there is a considerable difference in torque curves and charactersistics on these two machines - going to assume that you understand basic engine design enough to understand this too. Despite Deere making some improvements on the u/c, they are still missing the walking tandem type midwheel mounting of the Cat.

Id say a lot would depend on what dealer support is worth to you. Or...how far you have to drive to nearest dealer.
