NW Oklahoma | I have a 59 Ford F600 truck I am having brake issues with, and would appreciate some input. Brake pedal is extremely solid and gives very little with little or no breaking when pushed. Have replaced the master cylinder and the brake booster with remanufactured parts. In addition to the 2 short rubber hoses going to wheel cylinders on the front axle and the 1 on the back axle. I don't know what else to do.
Is it possible the reman brake booster is defective?
Is there a way to check one?
What other possibilities could cause these symptoms?
Need to get the old girl back into service any and all help be appreciated thanks. |

Faunsdale, AL | Your booster isn't working. I'm assuming you get fluid through all the bleeders including the one on the booster cylinder. I've heard people say you have to have a power bleeder to properly bleed that kind of system, but have always been able to get them to work with a little patience.
Sounds like the booster isn't getting good vacuum supply or is just not responding to the signal from the master cylinder. |

| also possible that your brakes need adjusting if all the shoes are not adjusted fairly close to the drums the result is a hard pedal, on that age of a truck, wheel cylinders could be seized up good luck |

| check the vacuum at the booster. I have seen the vacuum supply hose collapse inside. If you replace the hose make sure you use a hose rated for vacuum and not a heater hose. The wrong hose can collapse under high vacuum conditions. (going down a hill with the throttle plates closed)

Randolph Co NC | I've got a 58 thats needs a master cylinder kit now, leakin fluid in floor board, but I'd say it's your booster, weather it's a vacuum problem or something in the booster that's stuck. |
