Sw Minnesota | Looking at a truck with a C12 cat engine in it. 540,000 miles with a 10 speed transmission. Are these good engines? Probably wouldn't be putting on more than 3-4000 miles per year pulling grain trailer short hauls. Thanks. |

| Had one with 312k miles on it blow the head. Good power, likes fuel, expensive to fix. Last truck had an ISX Cummins instead. If its been re done might be ok. Search these engines on here and you'll find that they are not the best engine Cat has made. |

West Central IL | I love mine and it's got 270,000 miles on it but has over 10,000 hours. I put 4-6000 on mine a year and I wouldn't say mine is a fuel hog by any means and has plenty of power with a 10 speed. The head and cam bearings can be a problem but so far real good luck with mine. |

Sibley county Minesota | Mine was suppose to be overhauled at 500.000 then at 600,000 replaced all injectors and camshaft not cheap fuel mileage is 5 to 6.5 mpg driving 35 miles longest trip. |

NECIL | Drove an 04 T800 and put 600,000 miles on it. Averaged 6-6.5 mpg. They had to replace the head, cracked, at around 400,000 other than that it was a good ole motor with plenty of power or me. |

| We liked our C-12. Got average mileage, good power. It ran well with the 13 speed behind it. We are only selling it because it was time to upgrade
Depending on where you live and what you like, 514,000 miles, Diff lock, splitter, wet kit. Have service records, second owner... Just sayin.

| They like to chew up camshafts. But still better than a c-13!

Wi | They are not bad motors. Most rate them at 800,000/20,000hr life span. They are expensive to rebuild though. |
