I found these old pictures while surfing the net.Anyone know whom this IH puller is?This picture sure makes you appreciate the smoke machines. This is possibly Don Nolan or Charles DeClerk's MM from Illinois? The MM company was in to pulling back then and helped out some of the pullers. This is possibly Ron Perry from Indiana just before it became the famous "Solid Junk" G-1000 puller.

It looks like with all the money floating around they got put a new hose it every now and then. Last two years we have had several blow outs on Friday night. No smoking facility. Yeah, right. Tim

Chebanse, IL..... | Blaine, I conferred w/brother on this one & I believe we know all 3. The top photo (856) is probably Gary Cole (Kohl?). I think from Perry, OH. I believe his Dad, (Dale) also drove this tractor. Center photo-G1000 in White badges was Chuck DeKleerk. Bottom photo is definitely Dave Stangle, driving H-P team tractor. You can see his feet barely touch the platform. Notice the radio still on the RH fender? I doubt tractor returned to farming much after this. Dave was usually in the "hang-on" mode while piloting. One of the really nice guys if you've never met him. I believe Ron Perry was one of the owners. Do you think we're right? We didn't go to '71 NFMS pull. Probably '76 was my first. I don't think I've missed one since.

NE Mo | Was 1971 the year the tractor turned over backwards? We were there, just behind the start gate and to the side.

Lapel, In | Think it was a Farmall 460 that flipped over backward. John Klug from nw Iowa was one of the big time Farmall pullers back then. Ron Perry was the owner of solid junk. Ron worked at the Chrysler plant in Kokomo and even made a few parts there, so I was told by a neighbor of his. Ron personally told me he fit his rod bearings using a 3 corner file to scrape them to fit when we were sharing "secrets" one day. Ron farmed a little bit on the side.Dave Stangle only drove for Perry as I recall.

I don't think I've missed one since. Ron, You are probably correct on all of them. Both Dale and Gary Kohl from Perrysburg,Ohio each pulled 856 IH's in to the 1990's. Ron Perry owned and built (around 1970) the G-1000 MM and drove it some the first couple of years. After that Dave Stangle drove it all the time and they called it Solid Junk.I saw it pull twice in 1971 and Ron drove it both times.I have a picture of Ron pulling it at Bethany,MO that year. I figured that was Charles DeClerck from Taylorsville,Ill on the red G-1050 MM.I hear that its still in the family. Thanks for the help. Edited by 1206SWMO 12/12/2007 00:59

I think it was 1971.It was a 460 Farmall called the "Sesame Street Special".This tractor was later pulled by a puller from Clay Center,Kansas named Dwight Sherbert.

Martinsville, Ohio | Been to all their farms. Good men. I was at the pull. Wonder if those 4 orange crates full of pictures have any in them? I was a new ag teacher at Blanchester High School, graduated a year early from Ohio State. I took my senior ag class to it. Ed

Martinsville, Ohio | No, It was a tractor from Ohio. I met the guy, used to pull against him. He was declared dead at the accident, had an out of body experience and came back to life. He was never the same again and quit pulling. Western Ohio, Can't remember his name but will work on it. Don't remember Sesame Street turning over but I sure could be wrong.

Ed,the 460 diesel was from Ohio that tipped over at Louisville. His name is on the tip of my tongue. The tractor was later (About 1972-73) sold to Dwight Sherbert at Clay Center,KS.They used to announce at the pulls that this was the Louisville tip over tractor. It was called "The Sesame Street Special". A major farm magazine had a picture of the 460 upside down at Louisville.I still have that magazine somewhere. Did you see that I answered your question on the pulling forums about the Road Runner M-5 MM puller. It was the late Lloyd Wiewels from Fowler,Illinois. Edited by 1206SWMO 12/12/2007 10:35

Martinsville, Ohio | I can still see the young man's face but cannot remember his name, Blaine. I thought it was an early alky tractor but you are probably right. No I have not seen the post on the M5 but Lloyd Wiewels sure rings a bell. Too many people, too much time. Was Kohl ever that small? Always big guys when I knew them 30 years ago. Ed
