Southeastern IL | We are wanting to put a John Deere Rate controller on our NH3 toolbar that already has the Raven Accu-Flow system with 440 monitor. Will we be able to run swath control and variable rate NH3 through our JD 2600 screen with the rate controller? Toolbar has 3 section shutoff and swath control on the 2600 screen. We also have a Raven sidekick direct injection for N-serve we are putting on the toolbar. Will this run through the rate controller and onto the 2600 screen also or will we still have to run the seperate box for the sidekick? I know you can get the cable to link the Raven 440 to the JD 2600 screen but would rather get rid of the 440 all together. TIA!

East Central Ia | Not sure about your Injection system... but you will be able to do all those things with your 2600 and you can leave the 440 on the shelf.

when you install the rate controller you will need to get a harness from ag express to tie your raven stuff into the rate controller. If you have swath controll unlocked on your 2600 you will then be able to run that. Everything else should be good to go. You just need to set it up in the 2600. You will need to have a tractor with the ISO hook up in the back so the rate controller will hook in there. Once you have that you will have to set up the foot switch to power on the rate controller and you should be good to go!

The JD 2600 display with a Rate controller will work fine with the Raven Accu-flow system. The cable coming from the Deere harness will be expecting to mate with a 37 pin connector. Deere has an adapter to convert to the 16 pin connector that you may have. If you should happen to have the 37 pin connector on the bar, Deere has followed the Raven wiring pattern and it probably will mate up fine. Concerning the Sidekick. You will still need to use the SideKick console and wiring harness. Unless things have changed, the Deere Rate controller will not run the standard Sidekick pump. The Sidekick will need to know when application is taking place. When you used it with a 440, there was a T-cable so that the boom information was given to the SideKick console so that it would behave properly and "know" which sections were ON at any given time so that it could adjust the pump speed accordingly. The SideKick console will still need this information which can be obtained from the section wiring harness. There are various ways this could be obtained. L&D Ag and possibly others make a tee cable that goes inbetween the rate controller and the next harness to direct that information back to the Sidekick console as well as to its normal destination. With this arrangement the operator sets the injected rate on the Sidekick as usual. The Sidekick is aware when any or all sections are ON and the pump will run at the proper speed. The operator would not need to do anything special when turning around on headlands as the pump will stop when the entire applicator is shut off. Edited by tedbear 2/5/2013 08:06

NorthCentral Illinois | Will also need height/lift switch on applicator. The 2630 can run sidekick.

Can a single rate controller run both the NH3 and the Sidekick Pump or would two rate controllers be needed? Is the Deere rate controller able to monitor the flow and vacuum alarms on a standard pump or would this need to be an ISO setup? Edited by tedbear 2/4/2013 17:56

NE SD | I believe the new Sidekick Pro can be run with a G* rate controller.

Slicker than a Yes album. | http://stellarsupport.deere.com/en_US/products/sidekick_pro/ Plenty of info here. Brokaw had a demo setup at the Des Moines farm show.

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | Yes, that would be correct. I was thinking of the older standared setup with a SideKick console. Rather than switch things around, it might be desirable to just continue to use the Sidekick console piggybacked on top of the Deere system with the boom sense cable that I mentioned earlier.
