When I bought mine it wasn't much higher at all (2011).
Any building is only as good as the crew that erects it IMO.
I'm very satisfied and wouldn't hesitate to buy from them
again.

we built our shop 60x60x18 in 2004 added 100ft of cold storage in 2007 love the building. Also in 2010 built a 30x40x14 building. We have had an awesome crew and you cant even tell that we added on. And their warrenty is also another reason we went with Morton. Just the 60f for our shop the roof paint was fading so they paid for a new sheet metal to be replaced and took our old sheet metal and did test on it to figure out what happened. We are very satisfied!!

Best slidings doors in the industry right now, for what that's worth. Otherwise, depends on the crew. I had a lot of details added to mine that would not have been easily done by any of the other companies' crews. For a basic storage shed, the biggest advantage is their doors.

Same here, Morton was actually cheaper and wasn't comparing apples to apples. Morton had 2x8" post, raised cord, and few other little things that others did not or we didn't price on other. I do like the Mortons, just good building and we had great crew. I kind of think of it same as Brock bins vs. others, just a few little things that are a big deal to some, others not so much. Brock bids came in cheaper so yet again, that made that decision easy.

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
I explored a new building several years ago. This was a 72 x 150 building that has one end finished and the other end for cold storage. I priced the building with Morton and several other suppliers.

I talked with neighbors who had Mortons and they were happy except some mentioned the sliding doors left something to be desired.

I was leaning towards the Morton but mentioned to the dealer that they were alot more expensive. His calm reply was "about 30% more". This was probably close although I wasn't completely comparing apples to apples.

I went with the Morton building and have been very happy with it. I'm not sure if it was worth the extra money but I would probably go that route again.

With better times, several of my neighbors have had sheds built last summer. None of these were Lesters, Mortons or the other popular brands that I normally see around here. Most of these new buildings were from another company whose name I don't remember.

Those of us who have Morton buildings might be suffering from what I call the Cadillac syndrome. That is, we think our buildings are better because they cost more. The photo shows the building as it neared completion. The door and concrete work remained at that time.

I don't, I prefer a steel building any day. We put our shop up for half the cost of Morton's Energy Preformer. It also has 35' wide leanto on the side. I haven't seen a Morton Building with one. You can dress these steel buildings up and look just like a Morton. Just my 2 cents.

It seem like its all in the name of the product and who you want to brag to. I think they are a good building by all means,, but honestly don't see why some get all giddy about them. There are better built buildings. it all depends on the design and quality of the materials .They still are a post framed building with large spans between supports and perlins a with tin.....Buddy of ours has one and his second building is custom made form a independent guy and it walks all over that Morton shed in strength and quality in my opinion. It has more "beef" and better lumber.

I think most of us believe Morton is the Caddy of pole barns, but as mentioned the building crew can make even the Caddy a lemon,,,,Morton has a store about 20 miles from me and when I got my initial price from him I almost Sh t,,,crapped myself, and he never attempted any further contact. I went with a local builder and got a whole lot more building for a whole lot less money with no obvious shortcuts that I can see,

We have several Morton's. Really believe they are a better building. Look at the one that are 10,
20 years old. They hold up very well. The warranty is top notch too. Had a roof showing some faded
paint. Rep stopped by on his own. He took care of it and got roof painted for nothing. This was on a
19 year old building.

What it boils down to is, do you want a 30 percent longer shed or the bragging rights to say you own a Morton shed, both are important.

We were told this week that the Country Craft version will no longer be avaliable from Morton. The only difference was the metal gauge, which was 28 that they used on our shop exterior and the CC logo on the front of the shed that had some people wondering about the brand of building , but it does have the morton sign above that on the corner. The reason for discountinuing it is that it was too much trouble keeping the different metal gauges on hand. We are also pricing a small building again that will be put next to the shop for an office and the pickups. We were very happy also with the Mortons sales guy and their crew.

I have a Morton building put up in 1989, it's a 45 x 75. It was the first new machine shed we ever had, so at first we were tickled to death with it. But about 10 years later the paint started peeling off the roof, so I called headquarters in Morton Illinois, and the runaround began, they were sending a rep out right away, three weeks later I called again, they had misplaced all my information and took it down again, said someone would get a hold of me soon. A week or two later a rep called me said he would like me to send him a sample of the paint that was peeling off and put it in an envelope and send it back to him, I said my farm is only 20 miles from your main headquarters in Illinois, why don't you come out and look at it, he said he would sell me new paint if I wanted to repaint it myself, that there was a problem with the paint back in 1989 and there was nothing he could do about it. I called them a few more times over the next year or so and never got anywhere with them, I couldn't even get these guys to come out to the farm and look at it. I could go on for hours about this, long story short is the next building we put up was a Cleary and I'm very satisfied with it, the salesman has called a few times to make sure everything is good, he has called and asked if I would let him bring possible buyers out so they could compare the Cleary to the Morton with the paint peeling roof, I always tell him go ahead, so I can explain how the Morton Building Warranty worked on this building.
If I put up another building I will get some prices from local contractors in the area, should have done that with the first building.

Are you comparing apples to apples, Morton has the better sliding doors, the wire mesh bird guard and bird blocking and more. When you add these to other buildings the price will be close. Alumasteel sliding doors are the best sliding door I have found. I got quotes from 4 companies last year Morton was 2.5% more but had the best doors by far and the best warranty. Wood framed doors get heavy with 18' or 20' side heights. Make sure your snow load is the same. Keep in mind morton sells more buildings, when they get booked up they don't have to deal on the price as much, they can only build so many each year.

I have personally heard of both points being made here. First that morton is higher and that you can get a local lumberyard building spec'd the same for less. I have also heard that the price is close or less. One neighbor just put up a smaller morton shop(40x60) maybe. He said the cost of the shell was less than local-his son is a full time carpenter and couldn't compete, but did do the interior. This was early on '11? when the tax deal was on and buildings were going up like weeds. I was also told that another neighbor who built a larger morton storage building actually got them to come down in price(this was before the building boom and he is a bachelor who is self financed) I got a quote a few years ago and found like others said- not much follow-up, but I am a young guy and priced a large building, that I haven't built yet. When the time comes I will still get a fresh quote from them as well as the local boys-just good business I feel.

Nope. My shop is a morton, they where the same price as a local builder. Had a wind storm come in 1 month after it was built and pushed the sliding doors in and bent them. They would only open about 12 feet wide on a 30 ft opening. Took them 6 months, several dozen phone calls and a couple calls to the main office in Morton, IL. The only thing they was worried about was selling me another building. A year later I built my second building just for storage from a local builder. I have NEVER had one person look at both buildings and tell me the morton is better. Service after the sale sucks, buy the morton, but I won't again.

I would not pay more for a Morton when comparing apple for apple, there are a lot of good buildings out there, the crew that puts it up will make or break the building. Price is variable with Morton, depends how bad they want the deal. When I bid my 60 x 200, with 60' x 64' finished shop, Morton was about 11,000 more than the Cleary. I put up the Cleary because of structure design and was promised the best crew they had with in the company. They did what they said and since then had them put up another building. After Morton lost that deal, had a friend bid a building, and Morton was cheaper than Cleary.
