West Central IA | Picked up an 854 a few weeks ago, 2001, 2450 hrs, 1000gal, 90' one owner. It's our first sp sprayer, and I spent a lot of time researching here before I bought it. My main question right now is what the max GPM it can put out. Would like to put 32% on with it, but don't know if it can put out 50 gal/acre. I figure even at 7mph the pump would have to push 60gpm. I have no idea if this is out of its range or not. Anyone done this or know if it would work? In the second pic, is that a low-rate kit? Will I need to do anything with it to run 10gpa? 3rd pic just shows how I arranged stuff. Moved throttle back and down, moved switches in the box and repositioned the box, integra is mounted to the armrest. southern edge of central illinois | We had an 854 for several years. Good sprayer. Set up a regular routine to grease the wheel motors. We did regularly and never had any trouble. As for 50 gal an acre, I don't think so. Ours wouldn't have come close. Seems like 30 was about it. Depends on a lot of course.

cropsey, il 61731 | I think the solution pump might be capable of 190 gpm at 20 gpm hydraulic flow - maybe the rogator doesn't have that much hydraulic capacity. Also, it's likely not plumbed like a terragator for high volume/high speed. Of course slowing down will give you any gpa you want.

30 GPA at 7-8 MPH will about be it.

West Central IA | That's what I figured. Not a big deal, most our ground gets nh3 anyway, but thought if it could run the 32 we would. I've read/heard many opinions on how often to grease the wheel seals. Some say 2 pumps every day, some day a pump or two every 50hrs. Maybe I'll split the difference.

Belwood, Ontario | Does it have a high volume pump on it? If so you may get those gpa if you have big enough tips, but I would recommend a 3" flowmeter The low volume kit at 10 gpa should work as is, the valve is partially closed to create some back pressure against the flow meter, a vertically mounted one works better. I would recommend gresing wheel seals once about every 75 hrs or so when they are warm, just remeber your not actually lubricating anything there just providing a dust barrier for the seal.

Humboldt, IA | You will be running slow. Mine has the 100gpm pump. You'll have to swing up sometime and have a look. Bring the wheeler too!

At the entrance to Sandbanks Provincial Park | You can do alot with the pump itself. We have an older Walker 75 foot booms 15 inch centres that we put 32 % uan on with . Could only go 5 mph putting on 45 gal/acre. Bought a new pump from Jensons in Illinois. The old pump had 1 1/2 inlet and 2 inch outlet. The new pump has 3 inch inlet and 2 inch outlet. Pump is a Hypro 9306C-HM1C-3U And was as close as you could get to plug and play. Pump came complete with hydraulic Motor. Just had to connect the hoses to the ports and was ready to go. Got the flange ports on the pump and was easy to connect. Old pump was also a Hypro. So with only changing the pump we can now apply 45 gal/acre at 7.5 mph. Pump and fittings was less than $900. Gained a lot for a small investment. Sprayer has a raven 660 with 2 inch flow control.

SW KS, near Dodge City | 2 pumps every 50 hours, at least on a 1254. DON'T USE AN ELECTRIC GREASE GUN!!!! I had to put 4 new wheel seals in ours this last year. Was told that the electric grease gun was the culprit:(

West Central IA | 6810, I think we got a great deal on it for the hours and condition, but yeah, still not cheap. But nothing's very cheap anymore. Same money won't buy much of a tractor. Far as history we bought it from the original owners down by west Chester iowa. Smaller chemical dealer had it and took good care of it. Edited by fox128 1/22/2013 13:35

Centralia, MO | Does it have a drain hose on the wheel motor (1/4" air line hose) ? If so pump till a little grease comes out. Ag Chem Mechanic said that people tend to over grease the wheel seals and that is why they go out. All your trying to do is keep enough pressure on the seal to keep the dirt out not grease any bearings.

Western Iowa | I am a little confused, why no electric grease gun??? Isn't 2 pumps out of an electric the same as a hand gun or am I missing something??

SW KS, near Dodge City | I'd assume it's the pressure/volume that it's delivered at. It's a "bang" type of delivery instead of a more gradual pump that a hand gun action would probably give. I dunno, I just know it was an expen$ive lesson!

West Central IA | I don't see any type of drain hose on the motors

Belwood, Ontario | The grease couldn't get away fast enough with the electric and pushed the seal off its seat

Clear Lake, IA | I litterly have the exact same machine. Do you have a single or dual boom? If you have the high/low valve on the back I will assume you have a dual boom. To run your low volume stuff 10-15gpa you will want to have the big valve full closed and the the dial knob screwed full open. I ran about 2000 gallons of water through mine trying to figure this out last spring. You get one or the other valves to run open, both or partial and your flow valve will go bonkers. I have not run anything through the big boom yet, but i would assume you could get "UAN" rates as this is what the dual boom Rogator was designed for. I love my machine, just wish it was air ride. I am also running a AgLeader Versa and it was flawless last season, money well spent.

West Central IA | It's a single boom, so I don't think I'll be doing 50gpa. Thanks for the tip for 10gpa.....how open do you run the sparger valve? And bypass closed all the way?
Schlick55 |
| ||
Clear Lake, IA | I am running the sparger wide-e-open, Greenleaf Red/Whites (10gpa) Brown/Black (15gpa), so it is about 55psi, second gear also wide-e-open. This will put you at about 13.5mph-14.5mph, no power issues, no app rate issues. Presure wash all the crap off of the "H" slide assy the boom is on and put fresh grease on every year, two pumps of grease per wheel motor every day, MAKE SURE THE OIL LINES GOING TO THE DASH ARE TIED UP AWAY FROM THE TURBO!!! There is a updated roller kit for your seat suspension, it is $100 a PITA to install, but is worth every dime. I bough a external light bar and it helps get into the row a little better. Grease the rest of the machine like you own stock in the grease co! If I think of anything else I will let ya know.
