Phillips Co NW Kansas | I was wondering what other people use or have built for stands to put tractor engines on and stands for splitting machines. I would like to have a set of stands that will roll but I don't know if this is a good idea or not. I would also like to have an engine stand that will function like the ones that I used to hand small block chevy's on. Pictures would be great and appreciated.

Iowa | i built two sets of stands for front and rear. And I use an OTC engine stand. I think it has a 6000 lb limit. It will hold any engine except a train engine .

West Tennessee | We just split our 4640 using an A frame and chain hoist on the front end. We simply put two hydraulic jacks under the back end and blocked the tires. May not work for you but that's what we did. The chain hoist rolls and let the front end roll away from the back end.

Phillips Co NW Kansas | I had thought of the A-frame but with the space I have I was hoping to come up with something a little different. Plus my A-frame SUCKS *** to put it mildy. After I made this post I decided to use the search function because I figured somebody would preach that and came up with a pretty slick stand. I have to build my own things because I can't afford the OTC products. From what I have seen they are expensive.

central Ontario | I've used these stands I made on mainly smaller tractors but here there are on a 4630. The bottom of the angle irons have 3/4 nuts welded to them to adjust the casters up and down (IMG_0914.jpg) Attachments ---------------- IMG_0914.jpg (69KB - 1089 downloads)

Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot | Right or wrong, I've got stands that hold the front half up. Pretty easy to make. Mine came from a dealer auction long ago. Then we use a large floor jack under the bellhousing. Two guys can roll the back half pretty easily by pushing on the tires. Seems easier than trying to roll the front.

Westport, IN | I don't have pictures but hopefully I can describe them. If you rarely need stands this idea may work for you. They are bulldog side wind jacks. A flat plate 3/8 thick with holes drilled to match the tractor has a jack mount welded to it. Then they use cribbing (stacked blocks in a pattern to build a stable base) under the jacks. Then use a very good floor jack under the rear of the tractor and roll the rear of the tractor back. I know one time I helped them make a saddle to bolt to the tractor with a post that stuck down to fit in the floor jack where the saddle would normally sit.

Texas | Made mine from semi trailer jacks , got them free , the cross shaft to other leg was bad . I put swivel casters on ,to do it over ,id use straight wheels ,casters are a PITA to stab a tractor .

Centralia, MO | this stand will adjust to any tractor just have to make a set of supports to go up to frame in the front. 2 1/2 od tube then 2 1/2 id tube for sliders, pipe going up has 3/4 inch all thread with a nut and rod welded to the nut.

SW Ohio | I made a set about like that but instead of little casters I used 10" diameter steel pulleys as wheels, also had the thread adjust, but they are one of those things that got loaned out and never came back. Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot | I built one while I was in high school out of track roller. They make a very heavy, tight low speed "bearing". Even drilled and stuck a zerk in it. Then used a slack adjuster to spin it. Stick a 9/16 socket on it and you can roll the engine over very easily, and it holds and won't spin when you don't want it to.

Phillips Co NW Kansas | I seen the one of the guy that used the pivot gear box to rotate his stand. I just happen to have one laying around that we pulled off an old pivot

Dallas, South Dakota | I built these for my 3660 Massey. It bolts to the front and I made them out of some old cultivator steel wheels. I just used a stump and a hydraulic jack to support the back half. As you can see I even left the loader mounts attached to the front half of the tractor.
