East Central SD | I'm looking for a grapple to fit a 328 john deer skid steer that will withstand a lot of abuse. What kind do you have and have you been able to break it? |

Osakis, MN | Stout heavy duty, rock grapple. So far it's great, |

|
NW ND | Bobcat makes a good heavy duty root grapple. |

Portage MB Canada | I have a grapple that is great for many things, especially cleaning up junk and garbage.
I also have a rock rake/bucket that is good for roots, rocks and anything you want to shake the dirt/snow from. We just pick up a big bucket of firewood from the pile and park it in our shop until we need to get a bucketful. Just bought a new S130 Bobcat last month and having alot of fun with it.
Keep an eye out at the larger consignment sales, there is a company consigning a lot of skidsteer buckets and accessories this fall to many different auction companies.
If you are in the Saskatchewan area here is one closing tomorrow at Hodgins

I bought one of these grapples, we have been cleaning up a bunch of trees and scrap irons and have had no problems with it. Built very heavy, also has a pressure valve so you can't wreak anything. I would highly recommend this one. |

central - east central Minnesota - | For consideration - root grapples have wider spaces between the teeth . . . . Rock grapples have narrower spaces between the teeth . .. . In my older age, I like the rock grapples for picking roots. You can get many more of the roots in the bucket without getting out of the skidsteer and hand picking. With that said, I have a Notch, made in Paynesville Mn. Very good and haven't bent or distroyed it yet. I've dug out concrete, rocks and cleaned several fence rows of trees and brush, along with a housing developement lots of brush and small trees. I did reinforce the grapple teeth, but on their new ones, they have them reinforced. http://www.notchmfginc.com/
When the big roots are picked up - I like to use a chiesel plow to break out more spread roots then field cultivator to bunch them up. Then pick up piles with the notch rock bucket grapple.

Western Iowa | I would also recommend just getting a bobcat brand. As far as pricey, around $3200 buys a 72". That really isn't too bad for the quality. Some guys feel great buying a $2000 cheap one, but it really depends on the loader you put it on. If you are in a 2500lb+ rated capacity machine, get the bobcat. If you are in a 1500lb rated machine, a cheaper aftermarket bucket will probably do fine. |

WC MN | Have a Bobcat industrial grapple for digging rocks on a Cat 277c, dig rocks far bigger than machine can lift. Have worn points off to now rounded ends scraping and digging rocks, have bent one time about an inch, probably 4000+ lbs of lift focused on one time to bend it. Super tough grapple. |

Central Minnesota | Couldn't agree with you more. I just bought one a month ago. The 72" Root Grapple from bobcat. It's well worth the money. Once you have one you won't believe how much you use it. You will have no problems digging complete trees out with it. I've dug 6-8" diameter trees out with it along drainage ditch's that we have been cleaning out and along side of some tree lines and wood's. |
