I think a better question is, what are you going to gain if you currently have a "good" 1063?     Poly?     Hyd deckplates?

Poly is easy to put on your current head.    Hyd deckplates can be added also.

I believe the reason most people don't like them is that the knife rolls are not knife to knife like the old 800/900/1000 heads.    They are a New Holland head with red paint/plastic.

I noticed that Calmer makes stock rolls for the 2200 series heads, but don't know anything about them.

I bought a 2206 last winter, picked over 700 acres and never did anything except service. I had an old model 1083 that was in good shape, but I liked the 2206 better. I know alot of people bash the heads here, but Coup told me they have picked over 14000 acres with one with no major problems. Wilson

Just traded my 2206 for a new 3408, it has picked about 5000 acres and I have never had any kind of problem with it.

We have a 2206 first used in 2003, after 4500 acres we replaced the knives on the rolls, it is now back to an excelant job of chopping the stalks. It is the best head we have had yet. It pulls down corn in well. We are using it on a 2366. This is the 10th season that we just finished and I expect to get close to 20 out of it yet. Maybe a lot more. It is just like anything else, one likes a machine and the next one can't get along with it.

Casey Illinois
Get a 3200 or a 3400 head, you will like it lots better. It is more like the old 1000 series. Had a 2200 and had lots of problems, did not cut the stalks like the older ones and finally went back to a 1000 and now a 3200. Did I say I did not like the 2200 series.

We bought a 2208 and put on calmer chopping rolls and were impressed.
