| Looking to upgrade loader tractor, specifically looking for a loader FWA tractor. There is a Ford TW15 that just came up with loader for sale with 6000 hours. 16 forward speeds, 4 reverse. Anyone know anything about these tractors. The good, the bad? What kind of transmission is in there? Thanks |

| I've got a TW-25 for a loader tractor and get along with it. Simple tractor and fairly reliable. What I don't like is the separate place for the brake oil and it has to be brake OIL and not fluid, plus the power steering pump has a separate resevoir as well. Hydraulics are good and so is the engine, just make sure you change the coolant condition once a year. |

CT | That will have an 8F-2R transmission (4F-1R with high/low range) with a Dual Power power shift in each gear to give you 16F-4R.
Many will argue (and it is pretty much true) that low range reverse it too slow, and high range too fast. Dual Power helps a little.
Remember that this is a dry clutch, non-syncro transmission with no forward-reverse shuttle - as basic as they get. With a little practice you can shift them like a pro, but forward-reverse will always require a complete stop.
Also realize that the transmission is almost bulletproof, and you won't likely ever have a $5000+ repair bill to fix it either. It all depends on what you want - it all comes at a price!
