Mondovi,Wi | Looking at leasing or buying a newer tractor for next year. Currently are demoing/renting a JD 8310R and i really like it. We currently do not have any green equipment, but the local JD dealer has been very good to us so we thought we would give them a chance. This tractor would be pulling a kinze 3600 12/23 in the spring, grain cart, 24' summers super coulter, and a 6 shank CIH 2500 ripper. My question is, with how happy we are with this 8310...should we even look at a 315 Mag? Just looking for everyones opinion. Just so we are comparing apples to apples.... the 8310 has front duals, full front weights, 2000lb rear weights, and powershift. TIA! |

EC Nebraska | Have a 340 Magnum with the tier 4 engine. Love it! |

mississippi delta | I bleed green. Newest Deere is a 8430. Have a 2012 340 magnum that I really like. Next purchase will be a hard one to make. The magnum has suspended cab and saddle suspension front axle, I think it rides better than my truck. |

s.e.pa. | Just traded an 8320 Deere for a 290 Magnum. The Deere is a nice tractor but the maintance cost are much higher than the Magnums. Depends on how long you plan on keeping it,but I think Deere puts more into creature comfort than reliability. The new Magnums are great machines! |

Mondovi,Wi | On the other hand, i really like the idea of using DEF over having a particulate filter and all the Re-Gen crap. Is this a big issue? I am thinking that using DEF should really extend engine life in the long run over a particulate filter. |

Modena, Wisconsin | Nothing wrong with either of them but you should take a look at the other green tractors. Once you run one with the CVT you will have a hard time going back to the power shift. |

Mondovi,Wi | Gunner, this is off topic. But was going to ask you if you have a GP turbo max? OR does anyone else down in modena have one? Have been wanting to talk to someone who has used one. Thanks |

East Prairie, MO | Sounds like you are over powered unless you pull some harder pulling stuff you didn't list. It was between an 8310R and a 305 Magnum for me and I went for the Magnum over the huge price difference and have been very happy. I have no doubt I would have been happy with the Deere as well but wanted to save the money. |

Modena, Wisconsin | That is a real funny question. I was going to buy a demo 18 footer but told them if they had a chance to sell it to someone that wanted a demo unit at a cheaper price than a new to let them have it and I would order a new one. They had someone come in that was wanting just that so I pulled it back to the shop so they could look at it. They now have two people dealing on it but neither have pulled the trigger yet. I will have one for next spring. I have not used one yet but my neighbor got a 24 foot Turbo Max this spring. He ran it over ground that had been disk ripped last fall and it made a very nice looking seed bed. He pulled it with a 930 Fendt and it would challenge it in the hills. There are a few of them in the area and they leave the lot as soon as they get assembled. |

Flora IL | You can't beat the magnum with the cab and suspension and the throttle and all it can do.. weve had a 290 for a few years now we got new and its been great.. |

Mondovi,Wi | Wonder how a turbo max would be in corn stalks.... Think a pass in the fall and a pass in the spring like we do now would make a nice seedbed for corn? |

Modena, Wisconsin | I think it will. It will be one of the things I will be trying it with. I did a little of that with a turbo till this year and it worked pretty good but I think with the angle of the blades on the max it will bury a little more trash and warm up and dry out a little better. I am using a Case 330 this fall and it does ok but is light compared to a Turbo Max. Right now I am just running it to size stalks in front of a 714 chisel. I probably will run it a little on some that will just get one pass with a max next spring. I have another week with the combine and then will see how much the weather will let me do. |

South Central Pa | We traded a 305 on an 8310r and could not be happier. It rides better and has an all around nicer cab. Love the ivt it's really nice for planting. Drove a magnum with cvt and was not impressed seemed unresponsive and sluggish. Our magnum was a good tractor but had some small issues along the way. We will see how the Deere holds up the next few years. |

| We have green and red tractors. The Green ones are more comfortable to drive but the Red ones cause less trouble over all. Hard decision. |

Seriously? Deere has always beat case in the cab department. Deere has ILS front suspension. Case's front suspension is basically the same as Deeres TLS. There is a ride difference between ILS and TLS. I'd go with the 8310 over the case I don't like the idea of DEF. DEF engines run hotter than non DEF engines.

mississippi delta | Case has a new front axle out called a saddle suspension, it's a lot better than a triple link axle. It works as well as my ILS deeres. |

| Combustion temps are hotter, because that is what makes power and efficiency. An EGR engine has cooler combustion temps because your putting exhaust gas back into the intake that has very little or no O2... That isn't the desired affect.... On top of that, an EGR engine needs significantly more cooling than a DEF engine because you have to cool that EGR. So power loss due to increased cooling needs (take a look at the cooling package on an EGR engine vs a DEF engine...). |

| better get used to the def engines. deere is going to them in the near future. i wanna say in 2014. |

West Central,WI | Westcentralwifarmer I got my 30ft. Turbo max this fall it works great on cornstalks I think it will be a real nice seed bed for spring. Its surprising how aggressive you can set it if you want to move alot of dirt. I pull it with a magnum 340 handles it real good. |

ECIL | DEF engines run hotter than non DEF engines? Did your Deere salesman tell you that? Because that is hardly the case. |

North Central IA | Traded 8270R for Case IH 340 Magnum. First Magnum won,t be my last. Great upgrade. |

Northeast Arkansas | We leased a 290 Magnum last year. At first we were real impressed as compared to our 30 series deeres. But this year it came time to trade and I spent the extra money to have 8285R's. The 290 has been in the shop more in two years than both 2005 model deeres put together have since they were new. Its an ok tractor(the guidance sucks) but now no one wants to drive when givin the choice to drive the R's. I love my red planters and sprayer but I think they are way behind on tractors. When my lease is up, it would take a super super deal to get me in another red one and I still dont think I would do it. |

East Prairie, MO | I didn't let the Puma turn me off of case although no one could blame me if I did! Worst tractor I've ever had by far. When it's lease was up I got a lease on a 235 Magnum with the DEF and we have just started using it. Anxious to see how much DEF it actually uses, so far feels like about 5 gal/day. Really like the 305 I own, very solid tractor. |
