Osceola, NE | Looking at a 2012 John Deere 5085M MFWD with a 563 Loader. Very nice units with less than 100 hours. I think? it will replace a John Deere 4020 w/Loader. I know the loader will not have the lift capacity that the old loader had, but dealer said it will easily handle seed boxes (2500+Lbs).

have a 5055E and is a handy driveway maintenance tractor, reshaping small waterways with the box scraper, etc. tractor. It will NOT comfortably lift a pro-box, with the forklift attachment it sticks out too far. Had 8 suitcase weights hanging off the back 3pt and was still very tippy, dad thought i was going over on my side. Buy a forklift if you want to move seed boxes, chem totes, etc.

Elmira, Ontario | 5085M is a lot larger than your 5055E.

a 563 is a 563 regardless, they have the same hydraulic flow. It wasn't easy to lift a probox off a gooseneck by any means.

Elkmont, AL | We bought a new one in january and use it in our chicken houses, which is an extremely harsh environment. So far I really like it compared to the 5320 it replaced. Hydraulics are kind of whiney, and I have serious doubts about it comfortably lifting a probox comfortably. But knock on wood no problems yet. I really dislike the new cartridge style air filter, it says your not supposed to blow it out but if I didn't I would have to put a new filter in everyday running in chickenhouses.

Elmira, Ontario | I can't say I've ever seen a 563 on a 5055E open station tractor. I just assumed you had meant the 553. I couldn't find a mounting frame option to fit the 563 to a 5055E when I double checked old price lists.

I have a 5105M(2011, open station) w/563. With pallet forks, I've lifted ~2500#. The problem is not the hydraulics - they're fine - but the distribution of weight. I cannot recommend the tractor for this work. You can easily resolve it for yourself by having the dealer load a pallet and trying it out. Do not make any sharp turns - no point in taking unnecessary risks.

I suggest the dealer swap out that loader for one that WILL handle the seed boxes... http://www.loaders.com/userdocs/selector/JD-5105M-4-TA-26PLUS.jpg or for added lift height to 12' you could consider http://www.loaders.com/userdocs/selector/JD-5105M-4-TA-26-12.jpg Edited by Westendorf 10/23/2012 09:21
