Subject: Great Plains Turbo Till

Looking at a Great Plains 30 foot TT. It's under 1,000 acres and appears in great shape. I want to use it to prepare seedbeds (mainly smoothing and soil prep), and was wondering if it will also help fight erosion (in the same manner a chisel does, when things start blowing before spring planting). I have some very sandy ground as well as some tight land in a dryland wheat, milo, corn rotation. Just wondering if anyone had any experiences to relate. Would also be interested how it compares with a Landoll, Krause, or any of the other vertical tillage machines out there. Those have caught my eye, but not sure about putting out that kind of money. TIA.

Good tool demo one a couple years ago. They will bring up moisture ( if it is there is any. Really dry here). Doesn't move much dirt so it does not kill any weeds. Heavy tool it penetrates very well. It Is not as aggressive as a Landoll which it pretty much a light disk with rolling baskets. We bought a sunflower which is closer to the Landoll except it has fluted blades. It leaves a nice seed and kills more weeds, but cannot pull it as fast as the turbo till. We had really heavy wheat straw this year so we are using it to manage residue before we field cultivate. Would not be afraid of the turbo till. All in what you are trying to do. Good luck!

I really like mine, I get good stands.  Get the one where you can change the pitch of the blades, the older ones are old technology and I am sure they will depreciate fast.

Does a great job but takes a lot of horsepower to pull. Make only one pass as multiple passes create compaction. Iv'e done lost of testing with compaction testers behind lots of different vertical tillage implements.
