Does anyone know if it is possible to put a 4 row narrow corn head off of a JD 5830 on this chopper?

I would be inclined to say no... 3 row is a pretty tight fit on what was really built up from a 2 row machine...

Could it be offset? I've actually never seen a silage chopper up close. Just thinking.

We run a 3r 36" on a 3970 theres plenty of room for that .

We were told that a 4 row narrow is too heavy . we would like to put a 4 row narrow on right now but can't find one anywhere ?

That would be an offset 3r36 specifically for that machine tho?? An existing center feed for an SP is not going to clear the tounge on that PT unit... I'm very skeptical of that anyhow.

buy a 4720 pull type-fits right on-or maybe a dion and just go with the new style kemper head

I just sent you a pic of a head that is at our local equipment dealer's lot. He thought it would fit our 3975. It is a 4r22.

We run our 3975 with a 3 row 30" head behind a 4840 Deere, and have a terrible time keeping from knocking the corn down with the axle. We even cut the axle off to help, and just last year I built a bar that goes from the frame, to just outside the axle to bend the corn over. That seemed to help a ton.

I know that Dion makes a rotary (kemper style) head for a pull type, but the 4 row does not fit deere, only the 3 row. http://www.dionmachineries.com/eng/dion_products_corn_head.php

Lancaster Parts and Equipment has a few new in stock, but cost an arm and a leg to get. They also might know if you could put a 4 row on a deere. http://www.lancasterpartsandequipment.com/
