Can you safely get 200 horse out of a JD 7800 or 7810? They all seem to be advertised in that 150 to 170 range.
Thanks

getting the power to the ground is the prob, had a 7810 once hooked the 28' disk on it, ran out of rubber.

We had a 7800 that was running 205hp. We advanced the timing, changed the injectors and added a bunch of weight. We pulled a set of 750 drills with it, 28ft disk, and a 30ft cultimulcher. The problem we had was that the tractor always ran 2 bars from the red on the temp guage. It did this before and after we tuned it. It didn't matter what you were doing with it, it's just the way Deere set it up. The only problem we had was the exhaust temp got too hot one day and ruined the exhaust pipe prematurely. This happened when we were disking one spring when it was extrememly hot. We were lugging the engine some. After that, we were VERY careful when running it. So to make a long story short, the engine can handle it, but it really needs the intercooler to help cool that much HP.

The engine cooling system lacks alot, not just that its missing an intercooler, its the whole system. From the A/C, to the engine coolant, to the intake air temp, its short in all areas. If you do such a thing, make sure the coolers are all spotless clean, and keep clean air filters so the turbo isnt short on air.

Wow! Hooked my 27' disk to a 7140 Magnum and brought the tractor to a stop. Deere disk with cone blades=boat anchor.

My 7810 is dynoed at 205hp. I dont work it that hard, its mainly a haying and feedwagon tractor, but was that way when I got it, no matter what time of year it almost always runs just 1-2 bars away from the red on the heat guage.

Wondering because I would be pulling a 16 row kinze planter, a 800 kinze grain cart, and a 22 or 24 Great Plains turbo till.
My current tractor is 200 hp. Thats why I was wondering. Always liked the looks of those tractors.

If you really want a JD, get an 8000 for those jobs. Had a 7700 and 7810. Now have 6 8000's and don't ever want to go back to a small frame for big jobs.

Agreed- the 7X00 and 7X10 are not something you want around long- they just feel a bit short in all areas. The 7x20 and 7x30 are turning out to be really solid and I'm looking forward to see what the new 7Rs have to offer over an 8R of the same hp rating.

You should have no problems at all with any of those jobs IMHO.
I would go with the 7810 though, it has the 8.1L motor and is more than enough at 200hp even though it is not intercooled.
I had one that I chipped and was around 225hp, no problems ever with over heating.

If you find a 7810 with autoquad, they had the electric engine management similar to any 8000. With this model you can put in a chip and drive on.
I used a Blixton II, and it worked awesome.

I ran Michelin tires and had no trouble getting power to the ground, did not ballast either.
It had 18.4/R42 rears duals and 14.9/R30 fronts.
Had a friend with the same size rubber but in Firestone, and there is no comparison in performance between the 2.

Get the Michelins if you want to use the power on this size tractor.

I would be worried about the weaker drawbar on a 7810 pulling a Kinze 800 grain cart. If you are not in a hurry, rent or demo one before you buy.

Well my 7810 lived fine doing those jobs...no problem...16 row deere and 750bu J and M.
It was a 25' Aerway, not a turbo till though.
