Subject: Hankook tires made by Goodyear??

Crawfordsville, Arkansas
Had a guy that I respect quite a lot tell me the other day that Hankook tires are made by Goodyear. Any truth to that? I hope not because I have had really good luck out of the Hankooks. Like most here I have had nothing but nightmares with Goodyears.

Anyway just curious. Got 1.2" of rain last night over most of the farm so today is a slow day...

Germany
according to their homepage they have a strategical cooperation with Michelin.
Nothing to do with Goodyear.
I did not have such bad luck with goodyear tires, they always lasted as long as promised, "a good year".

That's funny its mentioned. I had Michelins on my truck, good tires. They lasted almost 2 years and 30,000 miles. I had a new spare so was going to buy 3 (yes, I'm cheap like that) Over $800 for 3. Tire guy said I sell Hankooks, can get you 4 for $775. I hope they're good tires. Have heard a lot of good things about them.

That's good to know. Never had any Michelin auto tires but their farm tires are hard to beat in my opinion. The Hankook truck tires I run have outlasted all the others I've used by about double the mileage. We've got 3 sets on pickups and all have outperformed much higher priced tires.

I will never buy another set of Hancook dynapro MT's the side wall is paper thin and will bust if running in much ruts. Semi tires have been pretty good.

Thats what I'm running. Held up so far and I'm not one to go easy on a pickup.

I work at a tire shop and the tire we have the most success with is the Hankooks. Car, truck, semi, all are very hard to beat for the price. And their sidewall is not paper thin. They are tough. I run the hell out of them on all of our farm pick ups.

I've had the best luck with Hankooks. They seem to handle gravel well and don't wear terribly fast.

20000 miles on 4 Hankook 727 and all 4 are wearing on the inside.
Had 4 wheel alignment at install and checked again. Alignment is in spec. The tires howl on good pavement.
Might try warranty claim. Dealer is baffled.
Say made in Korea?

Thats all I have been running on my 4 super duty ford 4x4 diesels. We are always in the mud during irrigating season and had great service out of them 285x16, 285 x17 , 285x18 2 f250's and 2 f350's run the ten ply tire. Like to see them wear a little longer is my only gripe.

I've got a set, only 4000 miles but seem fine. Lots of work trucks around here running them so I thought I'd go that route.

Subject: Hankook's Don't Like Ice...

Arva, Ontario

I put a set (don't recall the model) of Hankook LT's on a 1/2 ton several years ago. Tire shop had just started carrying them, and initial indications were positive.

I was reasonably happy with them in terms of traction, noise, wear, etc., but they were deadly on ice. I think they were so hard (for wear) that they had zip traction on ice.

For many of you, this isn't an issue. For us here in the Great Lakes Basin where it snows, then melts, then freezes for 3-4 months a year, it was enough to make me regret the choice.

If you seldom see icy roads, I'd certainly suggest you consider them.

Luke

I had a set of 33x12.50 15's on my 97. I ran in mud and ruts everyday in less than 10k miles 3 of the 4 had the side wall split between the sidewall grips. Maybe I just got a bad set but I still won't buy any more.
