nw mb | Had a small leak in fuel tank decided to pull all the fittings apart etc, the connection between the 2 tanks there is npt threaded pipe and elbow and nipple on the end. Looks like who ever did it used teflon tape (there isnt much left) on all fittings, im wondering if there is a better solution then regular old white teflon tape? Thanks in advance!! |

Southeastern, IL | sometimes we use teflon tape and teflon paste. The local FS does that on all of their NH3 fittings. |

East central Alberta | I was told in college to never use Teflon tape on the diesel fuel system. Paste is fine. The strings of tape will go into the pump and injectors and cause sticking and binding. But the paste will pass through without a problem. But close to the tank it would get caught in a filter first.
As for something better I can't really help you there. Paste always works for me. |

Mount Vernon, WA | Tape is just fine if you keep it away from the edges of the threads. I have used tape exclusively throughout my career. Two wraps, and have never had a leak or an issue.
It's like anything else, you gotta know what you're doing. |

| There are different colors of teflon tape for different materials. Yellow tape is double density and for fuel and gas lines is what I have read. Go to
Fastenal or somewhere similar to find it. |

CO, NE | I use paste and I'm always careful to make sure it doesn't get on the inside of the lines/pipes/etc. Mainly this means only putting it on the male side of the fitting and making sure none gets on the inside. (usually stay a couple threads away anyway. |
