Fayette County, TN | I have a JD 2955 MFWD w/cab and am looking for a used loader for it. Anyone have any suggestions on what size and models I need to be looking for, pros and cons? I know loader brands are much personal choice unless the cons out do the pros and I need some help from the "pros". Just going to use it to maintain the farm, a little clearing and road work, fork attachment for moving things, possibly some haying in the future. |

| Got a 265 deere on a 2950 MFD. I haven't been able to tear it up in about 20 years use. Lotta iron to look thru but I think any level action will be similar. I think the 260(think thats the previous model #??) had a few issues. |

WY, OK | x2 one of the best loaders they ever made and won't break the bank like a new one will. |

Fayette County, TN | I haven't found any 265s around my area not on tractors, I have a couple of 148s and a Koyker K5 pretty reasonably priced. |

Centralia, MO | 148 would probably fit as would a 740 or newer variant of that loader. All good solid loaders. |

Jackson County, AL | Go with a 265 or next newest model. Have one on our 2955 and its like a dozer. No issues related to strength or design, only because we use it in fertilizer. |

Embarrass WI | I would verify that the 148 fit before buying it. I don't think they will work on a MFWD.
I have owned a 148, a 158, and a 245. I have been around 260's and 265's. I think you would be best served with a 265 if you can find one. I am sure the newer JD's are just as good or better, other brands will work too, it is just that I know the JD #'s.
A 2955 MFWD will put a strain on a loader, make sure you get a good one. |

Fayette County, TN | Thank you for your replies ! Sounds like I need to be watching out for a 265 and let the 148 go. I have noticed that the cab and MFWD makes a difference on which ones fit and that's why I rely on your comments. If anyone has any comments on other brands and models, please chime in so I won't miss out on a good loader just because I'm trying to stay green. |

Waxahachie, TX | We have a 740 on our 2950 with Cab.. but its only a 2wd... what ever you get... you'll want the full frame loader.. going all the way back to the rear axle if you are going to work the loader hard... the 29's weren't as bad as some of the other utility tractors.. but the clutch housing have been know to break... |

| The 260 or 265 would be the better loader for that tractor No Q/T on the 148 so I'd stay away for that reason....
Other colors... probably lots ot choose from but I'd find one with a full frame AND a round tubular front cross member like the Deere has. The formed structural cross members that are welded full width of the arms are well known to break the arms after some time. I spent close to 10 hours last week and nearly a box of rod piecing a Ford 7410 back together and plating it...
Don't think you could go wrong with an Alo Quicke either.
